Watching the pilot of a show then looking it up because it was semi-interesting only to see that it was cancelled after the second ep. :<

Problem is that statistics say which show lives and which dies, and 90% of statistics are morons who watch real housewives or some sh*t like that.

It is costs vs ratings. Reality TV costs very little and brings in big ratings. Unless it is on a Cable network a show lives and dies but it's numbers. Sci-Fi shows with the massive costs involved in making them and the extra time spent on CGI are often the first to go.

iTunes, iTunes and iTunes.

It doesn't matter if you've got SSDs, shitloads of memory and the latest CPU - iTunes is still a laggy, hangy, bloated pile of cancer coated AIDS raisins.

User error? ;)

Not an iTunes fan but use it because of my iPhone 3GS, massive collection of music across the LAN on my NAS and I don't have those kinda issues mate. Is it doing something specific?

Just.... you know ... laggy, hangy and ... freezy.

Maybe it's because I've not got Fibre yet.

Fair play. Not sure on your setup but I stopped letting iTunes manage my stuff ages back and now use Beets ( http://beets.radbox.org/ ) not sure if that'll work on Windows as I've not tried but it's f'kn brilliant imho.

I bought a chocolate chip cookie today. Well, I thought it was a chocolate chip cookie. It was labelled as one. They weren't chocolate chips though. They were fucking raisins.

It been crap and bloated since release. I have no idea why people even use it when there are far better alternatives that come with the added bonus of not being Apple.

So I think I have some sort of tendon problem. If I hold my arm ~2 inches up from my wrist I can *feel* the tendon vibrating or rubbing (or something ) when I move my hand. I DON'T LIKE IT.

I should probably get a brace or go to the doctor or something.

So. Ian Hislop said on HIGNFY that a law has been passed that:

If you don't sign up to the royal charter and get sued for libel, and WIN - because you were right to print it:

The WINNER is liable to pay for not only all their own costs but all of the losers costs.

No. Freedom. Of. Speech.

Its sweet that you think National newspapers owned by a handful of oligarchs are somehow purveyors of free speech.

Really - that is sweet.

Or that we ever had such a thing as free speech in the UK :)

Having to redevelop other peoples reports because they are too dumb to present data in a meaningful way, before you can even start to get it into any sort of management report.

Or if you had any idea what Scouse was saying, you'd know that he was referring to the Private Eye which is *constantly* in court (and wins pretty much every case) because of it's amazing journalism. Who gives a fuck about the big papers, this will muller any small time investigative journalists who cannot afford bullshit like that.

Or if you, as an individual, witness something disgraceful, have a video and other physical evidence of it, write about it on your blog and the person involved doesn't like you writing the truth they can:

Sue you. Lose. Get all their costs paid. By you.

Well, I've read through the whole draft of the Charter and I can't find that anywhere. On the other hand, I also can't find a single definition of what constitutes "press" either.

It's not in the charter. It's already been passed as law. The charter comes second.

Don't sign up to the charter then the law automatically applies to you.

Done some more digging. Personal blogs aren't part of the legislation (or twitter, or Facebook), and neither are B2B publications, "specialist" press (e.g. car magazines etc.), scientific journals or anything published by a charity. You need a staff of 10 and revenue of £2 million a year to be covered by press regulation. Unless you're the BBC, which is covered by OFCOM instead. Its a complete fucking mess.

Or they could just sign up to the new code?

Its only come about due to the completely ineffective self regulation and public outrage at their excesses after all.

All this crap is part of the 'dont regulate us' campaign.

No - your exempt.

Edit - they can still fuck you over in the Libel court but that already applies today.
