Not really.

Getting your average joe to sign a petition is nigh on impossible.
2.5m people walked on london.

3 million (even if it was 8 million) sitting in their pants is far less impressive.

It's a side show anyway and May has already said now will come of it. It tells us nothing new.

In more interesting news - out on my bike atm, went through a park in a real low-rent place called Bulwell on my way to my standard breakfast place (Newstead Abbey -Byron's place). Someone has paid for a 5 foot by 8 foot screen on a back of a lorry to be placed right next to the kids playground blaring out an endless loop of Nigel Farage being interviewed about Brexit on LBC.

I suspect it's not the only one. I also got "wetherspoons news" through the door the other week proporting to give a "balanced" view of brexit.

But the screen in the park was just horrid. How bloody intrusive is that!

What for?

Won't achieve much other than show depth of feeling. Which we already know.

Wow.

'What's the point, there's not enough people signing it?'

'What's the point, they won't care anyway.'

Defeatism.

Idealism.

You don't *honestly* think it'll achieve much do you?

And is an online petition worth more than an actual referendum?

Obviously not for both questions.

But saying that there's not enough signatures on there for it to be taken seriously and then saying you're not going to sign it even though you absolutely 1000000% agree with it is just ridiculous.

It literally takes like 30 seconds for a little bit of hope.

Fuck me, if I was the Government right now and a petition popped up with 30million votes on it, I'd use that as my get out of jail for free card for sure.

Actually, no, it could achieve something, if there's a vote in the Commons for a People's vote, this kind of stuff would reassure you that there is public support for it.

Yep, I don't normally indulge these things, but I signed at 165,000. At some point, on some level, it helps to drive the point home. It won't change anything on it's own, but it helps to publicise the case.

Hope? By your own admission it won't do anything but be indicative.

I'm glad that people feel they can express their opinion. But I don't need the false comfort myself.

Would have been a better idea to ban them before 50 people got murdered.. Sorta like proactive policies rather than reactive ones
Once they're out there they're out there.

And criminals don't obey the laws, so no help there. Terrorists can find other ways to kill lots of people.

Yeah man, those reactive policies.

Historically, it's always been good to have reactive policies.
It wasnt the shooting obviously..it was the kill the Austrailian senator rhetoric after he pointed out why there is tension between the two civilisations.

I mean.. they've tried how many times now? assuming they do get rid of her, the EU 'Might' grant them an extension to renegotiate Brexit... I doubt it though, I don't see her resigning until Brexit is over and done with regardless of the outcome.

Anyone fancy getting an FH bet pool going? I'd bet £10 Brexit isn't happening to start it off.

My wager: Revoke Article 50 and a PM Resignation

People can change their minds, the moment people aren't allowed to change their minds, democracy stops existing and given the massive backlash lately (especially since May gave her fascist speech the other day, I just don't see it going ahead now)

She doesnt put 3rd vote. And we go out no deal on friday.

Doubt it, no deal would set the country back decades economy wise, so bad even front bench tories are shitting themselves over it and they're arguably the cunts that care the least about it.

I stand by my initial bet

Revoked.

Edit: To add to this - Theresa May wants a Legacy like Thatcher, if she goes through with this, her Legacy will basically be the PM that fucked the country - her ego won't allow that, regardless of how much she claims democracy is important to her.

Its all smoke and mirrors now, the EU might agree their usual last minute face saving apparent deal at the post like they always do with a new PM.
If brexit is postponed past the EU elections and they get trounced by nationalist parties, then punishing Britain will suddenly become much more difficult.
The EU is on a knife edge here, the EU all you remainers long for is fast transitioning into a xenophobic, anti globalist anti immigration cesspit.
In fact that was the biggest pro EU march it has seen, we have every chance of leaving and becoming the liberal light for Europe.
Lifes weird like that.

Only in your constrained little mind.
