Yes, 80% of the votes went to parties that said they would respect the result of the referendum - which was to leave.
And yet they voted for MPs who would prefer remain in a representative democracy? Weird? It doesn't make any sense? It's almost like a 2 party system of representative democracy doesn't sit well with referendums. Who'da thunk it?

Those manifestos also promised a deal.

Seemed to sit OK with the Scottish Referendum, that on the GFA, Welsh Devolution and the Alternative Vote. Or is it because this time the proles gave the wrong answer?

Ah yes. Silly proles. Bet they don't even read the Guardian, so how are they supposed to know what to think?

P.S The Tory manifesto also mentioned that leaving with no deal was better than a bad deal. After that leaflet said the Government would implement whatever we decide.

The GFA that brexit will break? The Welsh referendum that conservatives voted not to implement and had in their 2005 manifesto to hold another referendum on to get the 'right' answer?

It's almost as if people only treat non-binding referendums as sacred when it suits them.

I'm still intrigued how Brexit will break the GFA, given there is no mention in it of anything about a border.

edit// it's almost as if when the Government leaflet that accompanies the referendum clearly states "We will implement whatever you decide" people expect it to be implemented. What you are suggesting is the same as Remain winning and us leaving anyway.

Read the text of the agreement. No constitutional change to NI without the consent of the majority of the people of NI.

NI voted remain.

No way! Sony!

@Bodhi! You love TRAITORS! You gonna switch brand from this gaggle of splitters?

No. As I tend not to base purchasing decision on articles which start "according to Documents seen by...." :)

It didn't start like that.

It said "sony are moving" and then - "according to documents seen by the Torygraph - they'll have moved by march".

Go to the torygraph and you get: "The deal will be completed on March 29 2019, according to merger documents reviewed by The Daily Telegraph".

So, done deal, according to a source you have, up until now, considered reputable (certainly not the guardian or a remoaner source eh?).

But either way if, come March, it turns out to be true - you gonna stick with them? Even when they've ditched us like the ugly bird (in locating your headquarters terms) we become after brexit?

:)

They havent ditched us.
They are moving their HQ, one of the reasons being they fear the possible tax reliefs inc after brexit will be punished by Japans own trading laws....which they will circumvent by good old dodgy accounting

Probably not no, as what would we have lost? No jobs moving, and in order to pay Corporation Tax you have to make a profit, so er :)

And as Job mentions, it's a name plaque exercise in case the UK gets classified as a Tax Haven. So they're moving to Amsterdam, which is in no way a tax haven for multi-nationals, oh no siree bob. Double Irish with a Dutch sandwich anyone?

Well yes. We could stop it now but after the 29th they'll be free to do it.
I'd be really funny if @Job's nightmare scenario of "ze Germans" getting an army happens because we're not there to veto it, and then they invade us and burn Southport to the ground before putting all their migrants in Liverpool :)

Yep. The member states would have to agree to have that veto scrapped @Bodhi.

At which point, who cares?

So if an EU army is such a terrible thing it would be stupid to give up the one cast-iron method we have to prevent it.

An EU army without us.
Pardon me while I chuckle.

Sorry I'll rephrase that ..an EU army.
Pardon me while I chuckle.

The only way it would work , if it was run by Germany and was entirely German soldiers and hardware.

Maybe its time for the Queen to dissolve Parliament.
I honestly believe she would have the public behind her if she did.
