I voted remain :) But accepted the result.

Perhaps if others also accepted that the result was the result instead of fucking about, we wouldn't be in this mess? :)

I really don't see how 'accepting the result' would have avoided us getting into this mess.

What was promised was a lie, so it's hardly a surprise that it isn't being achieved.

All that wasted energy wailing into the wind, very Trumpish really. The result was the result, it was never going to get overturned.

The EU are being as childish as the Tories though. It's completely stupid to think they wont suffer too from a no-deal. They want to punish us for going against their wishes, at the end of the day. We are weakened by leaving the EU and the EU is weakened from losing us.

They're not though.

Imagine all the trade that they've lost from the UK that they can move across to other EU countries. I'm sure Eastern Europe will be loving all this, not having to see massive emigration and instead seeing UK industries move into much cheaper places to operate in a much bigger market.

Whereas the UK doesn't have the ability to make up all the losses from EU trade.

I think it's easy and naive of us to think that the EU is operating on their own without the support of the member states.

They can't afford them, we buy a lot of food from France for example, they aren't going to be selling that to the poorer countries. If it starts costing us too much more then we wont buy it either. There is a lot of noise coming out of the French cheese industry etc

The average Romanian salary is just 650euros a month, that isn't going to go very far on fancy imports. They aren't going to be going out of business any time soon but its going to hurt.

It call all be sorted out if both sides weren't being so childish about it.

Edit, if you boostsed the economies of the poorer countries too much then you lose your cheap labour, which is what drives the EU, rich countries with their factories in shit holes. Buy cheap, sell high. Normal business.

But that's one of the reasons why the EU exists; to develop the poorer nations so that they can buy more German and French stuff, and the UK leaving the EU will make the EU focus more on that than ever, thus taking more trade away from the UK.

As for the industries that can't be moved into the EU, I'm sure we'll negotiate something special just for that immediately, in return for fuck all, because the EU is absolutely right to make an example of us, unfortunately any form of political union would do that.

Look at Scotland trying leave the UK, the No campaign was all about what we'd take away from Scotland if they left, not really being nice about it.

I dont think theres any punishment involved, the reality is the EU position has hardly changed from the beginning, it was very clear what the rules of trading with the EU on better terms than no deal are, all this talk of punishment is just whining, or wailing into the wind as you put it

Having a negotiating line of 'YOU CAN'T DO THAT WE'RE THE BRITISH EMPIRE!' doesn't really do much when they don't give a shit, considering lots of them have US army bases in their countries.

The position was that they'll give us all the benefits and none of the obligations because reasons.

It is where it is and I didn't expect much else, although this governments handling of no deal or any type of deal hasn't been very well done covid 19 or not. Too much prepare for the best and hope the worst doesn't happen.

Nope. Wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference. The problem, first, last and always, is that the Tories didn't know what they wanted from Brexit. What the rest think has largely been irrelevant, especially with no credible political opposition.

The weird thing is, this is the third time the country has been held at gun point while the Tories fight amongst themselves, twice in relation to Ireland and now Brexit. We never learn .

Agree with this completely. I was a bit of a "reluctant remainer", not particularly pro-eu but I am firmly of the belief you work to change things from the inside, when the alternative is completely unclear. It's surely obvious to everyone that the government never expected leave to win, and had no clear plan for if it happened. 4 years later, we are still in exactly the same place.

Another sneak trailer for the pantomime, buck rodgers has gone over the cliff only to make it around the corner next episode.

The media using utterly idiotic emotional wording for European leaders imaginary opinions, not answering phone calls...Macron threatens... Merkel demands.

The only process going on is one that ensures another kick into the long grass, theyve managed to avoid it for four years, why stop now, they could probably rely on the backing of leavers if they told the all too real sob story of economic collapse and can we just leave it for a bit with all this shit going on.

I wouldnt bat an eyelid if they called it off till 2020, its shot its bolt, and so many other things are coming along that will require far more attention.

I guess youre all a bit young for Buck.

No, I remember Buck Rogers in the 25th century, and having a crush on colonel Deering too, as it happens. But WTF are you trying to say? Answer the fucking question please....

We're rapidly approaching Brexit, but we'll pull something out of the bag at the last minute, a la Buck.

The media using utterly idiotic emotional wording for European leaders imaginary opinions, not answering phone calls...Macron threatens... Merkel demands.
The media is making shit up about how European leaders actually feel about the whole thing.

(This may have plenty of merit - Killary always did say she never watched the news as it was always pure speculation - but like I said, anything Job says which may have merit is lost because of him not knowing he's a giant pantomime twat).
The only process going on is one that ensures another kick into the long grass, theyve managed to avoid it for four years, why stop now, they could probably rely on the backing of leavers if they told the all too real sob story of economic collapse and can we just leave it for a bit with all this shit going on.
He thinks Brexit isn't going to happen (even though it already has). He thinks there'll be another thing that means that we effectively kick the can on a deal down the road further.

Deal or no deal, he'll twist the outcome to suit his imaginary narrative.

I wouldnt bat an eyelid if they called it off till 2020, its shot its bolt, and so many other things are coming along that will require far more attention.
And it's not important any more anyway, apparently.

I don't agree with banning @Job at all. I don't agree with banning anyone. I'm more than happy to call him a fuckwit and a liar. I get irritated when he claims he's not racist, when evidence has been posted dozens of times (I suggest a sticky "Job says a racist thing again" ; it would save time), but other than that, he's not worth getting exercised about, and like a stopped clock, he even has a point sometimes.

I did just mean for a few days, just to give us a rest...
