I'm loving my Nexus One with Android 2.2 which runs really quickly and no problems at all.
Great with calls - crystal clear sound
Texting is very easy and the auto correct features work like a dream
Camera is excellent

I'm going for the X10 in September. A couple of people at work have them and love them, especially as the Android 2.1 update is out now. Whats more the case design is still teh sex.
Sorry to piss on your parade but the 2.1 update is most definitely NOT out now. There is a minor firmware update which is meant to address a couple of issues, but the proper upgrade to 2.1 Eclair isn't due for another few months.

Speaking as someone who knows because he admins his wife's X10. :)

The X10 Mini Pro looks really nice I think small screen but the features are impressive.

Not heard much good about the X10. Crap keyboard and bad sound on calls apparently.

Thinking about taking the Samsung Galaxy S now instead of the Desire, as 3 have them in stock and its pretty much the same phone, but with 10gb of memory included. Bigger screen as well afaik.

I always felt that Samsung phones felt rather cheap in the hand but that was around 2 years ago when I last had one.

My last Samsung phone was a Tocco, which was decent, without being remarkable. Having read some reviews i'm definitely considering the Galaxy S as a viable option to the Desire, as the 3 store said they might not get anymore in as demand is so high. It does look a lot like an iPhone which is a massive draw back though :|

The galaxy S is very good Aoami, but don't expect Samsung too support it with updates.

I'm going to go into town in a bit and get the Galaxy S. The Super AMOLED screen, HD Recording and 8gb built in memory have sold it for me.

Also, Chet, it has Android 2.1 out of the box, with an update for 2.2 scheduled for Q3 in 2010.

Have you read reviews for this phone? It seems mixed from user reviews.

Rumours were that the Nexus 2 was a Motorola with a slide out keyboard so i am not upset about that tbh. What does worry me is that my next phone will come complete with a interface that the manufacturer thinks i want.

What i really really want is a Nokia made Android phone, Nokia has always had solid hardware but a dodgey OS so a Android Nokia could be a think of beauty.

Yes I know this, I also know that Samsung are not really fully behind Android as a platform and are unlikely to care after the 2.2 update. Hopefully the rooting / custom rom scene is as a good for the galaxy S as it is for HTC phones, as then it won't matter.

Good phone choice btw, it's certainly the best specced android phone on the market.

Make sure you get a screen protector and some kind of case to protect it.

I'd still say the Desire is the better phone, i've read a lot of reviews for the Galaxy and they put me right off.

Oh for gods sake piss off will you, i'm simply stating the Galaxy S is not the amazing phone it is supposed to be heres the points i see listed in many reviews:

* Plasticky case
* Samsung's own widgets are weak
* Some apps load slowly
* Poor battery life
* No camera light
* IPhone-wannabe menu style
* Software is flaky in places

You can take the battery issue off if you want as phone tech is way a head of battery tech atm.

I'm not starting a phone war i'm just saying the Desire seems better, so chill the fuck out and sip your can of coke.

Managed to get the 16gb Galaxy S for £35 a month on 3, 900 mins, 5000 texts, 5000 3to3 minutes, 1gb Internet. Pretty happy with that. Can also downgrade your contract after 12 months.

I was also offered the iPhone 4 for £30 a month with £130 upfront, which was tempting but i just hate apple so much.

I also know that Samsung are not really fully behind Android as a platform

What on earth are you talking about? They're behind it enough to use it on their flagship phone (and indeed the best Android phone there is), they've made other Android phones and are making Android tablets.

Couldn't we say HTC aren't "fully behind Android" because they're making Windows 7 phones?

The fact they are pushing their own phone OS for their future handsets over others? Samsung are not stupid, they are cashing in with android at the moment.

Quite a few sources if you look around, this one is from the initial annoucenment last winter:

Samsung announces Linux smartphone OS | bit-tech.net

Basically Samsung have developed their own linux OS as a competitor to Android. It's called Bada and will be the main OS for next quarters Samsung lineup.

As I thought, you're guessing :)

We'll see when they actually announce some new phones.

It is still speculation. Putting people off buying a good phone due to random speculators is just not on.
