Those performance figures mean jack shit tbh, it all goes by the lowest component rating and its almost always the same component

Out of interest, what sort of hard drives are folk using to get over 5.9 transfer speed? 10k RPM or SSD or something else?

OCZ vertex 2 (SSD) gives me a 7.3 score.
With a normal HDD (7200 RPM) I get 5.9.
