It's true to say that you could create similar looking designs using photoshop, but it would look pretty flat compared to a painting in the same style. I could create paintings from the same designs with a classical style, but I don't know anyone with a spare grand laying around that they could use to pay for them. Besides, it's all art if someone likes it, isn't it? :D

Oh, and I can't remember what was paid for the mini off the top of my head. It's was definately more than 50 and less than 80 though...

Yes. Yes it is. I'd quite like another but I don't have the room for it. Maybe one of clown dressed as a ninja.

ok no offense

but those dont even look like paintings, they look like photoshop effects on a greyscale photo of whatever star/stars with a background added.

im not saying they aint good mind.

I thought the exact same yeah. Wonder if they are actually paintings or prints.

I can assure you, they are paintings. He's my brother, I've seen him paint them, I own one, heck, I've been out to buy him the acrylic paints before, and I know how much work goes into them. The fact that the scale is so perfectly matched to the people (one tiny bit out of proportion on someone's face makes a massive difference, and warps the image) is just testament to how well my brother does it.

Some people are so horribly talented it's untrue, Dam's brother certainly looks to be one of them (Darn your genes, share the talent plix :p).

Would have one meself if I could afford it (of Christina Scabbia *rubs legs Vic Reevees Stylee*). Maybe in a few months if the commissions are still going ^^.

We (myself and Vae) bought the Dalek one...supposedly for a friend who is a humongous Dr Who fan....it hasn't actually left our flat yet, though we're due to see said friend just after christmas so i might have to convince Mr Vae to part with it if i promise to buy him another one at a later date!
On the artwork side of things....these paintings really ARE fantastic...everyone who had been to our flat has commented on the dalek, even my dad who does not give praise easily, and my mum who doesn't 'do' sci fi....and yes Jup....my mum has walked throughout our entire flat and eaten at the table you slept under, so you must practically be married to her!

I now have a myspace for my paintings if anyone's interested. The address is www.myspace.com/mattejblack

I would have used a clickable link but the button doesn't seem to be working for me...

If anyone is interested in commissions at the moment, let me know because I've finally cleared my backlog! As always, prices are negotiable (largely dependant on how close to having to eat from dustbins I am).

Turns out that freddyshouse automatically turns URL's into clickable links. I would have edited that part out of my previous post, but that button isn't working either...

Why do I paint stuff that probably won't sell when I run out of commissions?

:twak:

Dig deep and save me from my own stoopidity...

:eek7: Here you go sweetheart... I did red roses last year, so here is a portrait of a man wearing a mask crafted from the flayed flesh of innocent victims.

dunno about that mycenae. you're not being redirected to myspace.de or anything are you?

edit: sorry, the .de country code takes you to something that has nothing to do with myspace. possibly the site's servers are deciding you're german based on your netblock, though having said that they certainly aren't deciding I'm dutch though my connection is most assuredly coming from holland :)

I'm accessing it through work, so hospital firewalls might be making it do funny things, but has never happened with anything else!

it's entirely possible that your firewall, or some other device on the network, can be doing any and everything to the packets passing through it. is it happening to just the painting site or any myspace site?

My page is in german for you? What a surreal technical error... Glad you like the Serenity painting Vae. Nice to know I'm not the only sci-fi geek around these parts ;)

By the by ladies and gents, I'm planning on doing a series of horror-themed paintings now, so if anybody has got any ideas of what would make good subject matter feel free to fire them at me :)

The bit in 28 days later when he shouts "HELLO?" in the church. And 2 zombies are looking at him.
