Anybody got any thoughts on Bravias as TV's?
We have John Lewis vouchers to use after our wedding and looked at this one: http://www.johnlewis.com/sony-bravi...-tv-50-with-freeview-hd/p1593179?colour=Black
Ideally trying to find one that can output Dolby 5.1 via optical so at some point we can plug in a Sonos Playbar.
Any other decide LED tv's for that sort of price? Are the cheap ones you see at Tesco for £300 odd crap?
Bought me a new router - should come through the post today.
I'm sick of the virgin one - connections downstairs, in a straight line maybe ten meters tops (though through a floor and a couple of brick walls) are pretty much unworkable. I've been after one for a while and I didn't fancy spending £200 on ASUS's top-of-the-range offering (especially since I currently don't have any a/c devices) - so I've spent £99 on this one (rrp £135) - which is also a/c but not top-top-top drawer.
It reviews well. We'll see this evening whether they're talking out of their ringpieces.
Thinking of it. I'm sure I created a thread a long time ago asking about this. Perhaps I'll necro![]()
Having similar issues with the Sky Router, fine in the living room but crap in the bedroom, which is two room away in a flatSadly, I think Sky stipulate you have to use their hardware in order to connect.

Last time I had Sky if memory serves the system is locked down pretty hard. Any new router would have to emulate the MAC address of the Sky one because of the way they lock things down. Can't you set their router to modem mode and just connect your own to that? That's normally what happens.
It's normally - "no support" that they quote ("we're not helping you if you use your own hardware") - but if your internet is down then just disconnect your own hub, plug in theirs and ring them...

They were 18 with free delivery on Amazon today, bought one tooBought a chromecast dongle for £20, best purchase in a long time.
Got my wdtv and nas what's the benefit over that? They were 18 with free delivery on Amazon today, bought one too![]()
Ah, now I remember. They won't give you your own login details was what the crack used to be. Their system used to calculate them based on your routers MAC address:What a bag of shite!
Can anyone answer this. What does a chromecast do more than my setup? If anything?Got my wdtv and nas what's the benefit over that?
I just moved from the sky router to my own. There are quite few guides out there and it was very easy to move to my own router. What a bag of shite!
970 is a beast, really its overkill if you're playing on a single screen, you need either a 4k monitor or triple monitor setup![]()
Chomecast puts the processing power back on your plex server or whatever. So my chromecast looks at my tv folder on my desktop pc and streams from there. In itself its just a gateway to other things. It works well though and I love that android apps let me use my phone/tablet to pick what I want to play.
I have a nas already. And use twonkey or a network share for it to my wdtv box.I just use my desktop for plex...going to get a NAS, probably in the Xmas sales but works perfectly fine at the moment.
