Crashed the 123d. Replaced with a 120d M Sport Coupé. Slightly more sensible.

When I was looking earlier this year the figures seem to suggest if you do 20k miles plus a year a Diesel will pay for itself. If you don't you may as well go for a petrol.

I have just got a Zetec S 1.0 ecoboost Fiesta and it is a hell of a lot of fun to drive. I am enjoying it so much more than the Focus it replaced. And as my journeys tend to be in traffic the quickly shooting out onto a roundabout in a gap is the only fun I get so I do not need anything bigger.

I have a 120d Sport currently for company car tax reasons and it does indeed sound like a clattery black cab, however the torque is sensational along with the fuel economy.

That said, I'll be getting a petrol next time due to the gayboy taxation. Diesels incur a 3% 'penalty' in the UK and the new VAG turbo charged petrol engines have superb CO2 levels for a petrol. Given that petrols don't have this 3% hike, cheaper to buy than the diesel equivalent, and have excellent CO2 levels, then it's going to be cheaper for me to get an Audi A3 petrol next time.

Even the new Golf GTi has CO2 under 160g/km which means it's on the company car list.

BMW reckon there will be a big move back to petrol soon, as getting diesels through the next Euro emissions bollocks is going to cost a fortune. Hence why they've developed the New range of 2 litre turbos. The new 328i is supposed to be particularly impressive - 0 to 60 in under 6 seconds and 45 mpg combined, although probably not at the same time.

Still missing 2 cylinders though, so I think I'll have a previous shape 330i or a 125i coupe next. Something with a proper engine :)

That's not quite what they've said. Most BMW diesels are actually already Euro 6 compliant (BMW have been ahead of pretty much everybody else in getting there); they just said that all of the obvious things you can do to bring down emissions have been done and you're getting to diminishing returns; but they also said that at pretty much every round of emissions reductions going back to Euro 1 in 1992, so they can hardly be described as trustworthy, especially as no-one actually knows what Euro 7 is going to look like yet. There's a 95 g CO/KM overall target for 2020 but its not law (yet) and for diesels its the NOx and particulates that are the problem, not the CO2 targets. So petrols may make a comeback, but its seven years away if they do, and they might not. Or we could all be busily wiping out the world's supply of lithium instead.

The new BMWs are only compliant in eco mode, not so much in sport.

I saw a review that said it can't pass through Dolby Digital from the set-top box, that's not going to go down well.

It's an Audi, that is a good one :)

Geekiest awesome tthing I've bought this week was a new gearbox coupling for the 330. I had a pretty bad vibration booting it in 2nd so got it booked in, 260 quid later it was gone, along with the aggressive clutch bite and alight clunk engaging gear. It's reminded me just how awesome a properly sorted 3 Series is to drive.

Although we also put the order in for our new laptops at work. We could only get Dells sadly, so no Vaio love for me :-( got some rather fetching looking Latitude 7440s coming. I5, 8GB Rammage, SSD etc. Look pretty sweet.

Nice, I am going to get a Dash Cam fitted in my car as long as the Lease Company don't object. I like watching the crazy Russian vids. And after nearly getting done by a people carrier full of pikeys last week in a flash and go scam I want some protection.

Unless your hardmounting the cam the lease company cant really say anything.

I use my gopro 2 as a dashcam already, going to replace it with the 3. The 3 has a looping mode as well so car USB + skeleton case = infinite record time. ( although disk will fill up eventually because when you stop + restart recording it wont clear the currently used space ).

I use a suction mount hanging from the windscreen and just run the gopro in inverted mode. Easy peasy.

It would have to be hard mounted or I would never use it.

Only 32gb max memory? What's the recording time? It looks overpriced.

It is on the expensive side. I have seen one fitted though and you do not notice it. With the expensive USB Wireless adapter you get a cool little mobile app too.

I am not set on that one I will look around more when I get the OK on installing one.
