The second video is how I'm using it, so much better than typing. I can write fast, but if I need to add in arrows or diagrams I can just draw them in. It works flawlessly, and everything is saved in onenote as one of those things you can zoom in forever and it never pixilates.
That, plus sound recording, all linked together in onenote, writing over the top of powerpoint slides = win for note taking.
I haven't used handwriting recognition, onenote searches my hand written text fine so why bother.

er...they are just light bulbs, or am I missing something?

Or I see, they change colour.

edit of an edit. They actually look pretty good, especially if you can turn them off/on from anywhere.

mmmkay...it's going to base cost approx 900 euros without a keyboard, doesn't come with MS Office as default and real world battery life is meh (for a tablet - reasonable for a laptop ofc). hmmmm.

I played with a Surface today and I liked it. It was a RT and it was a bit slow to get going but once it got there it offered so much more than my iPad. Connecting to the network at work to pull down files was a dodle. I do think if I did not play games then a Surface would replace my laptop and iPad. But as is it was not good enough to make me spend another £600+. The iPad was quicker to go from locked to online and the range of Apps is better. But it is a very slid first try and maybe by the time the next gen comes out I will rethink it. I was actually surprised how much I did like it honestly.

Imported from the US I paid £800 for a 128GB (the biggest) Pro, with a type keyboard.
Real world battery taking notes is 5 hours to get to 25%, thats pretty good for what it basically a PC.
I have an office 365 subscription for my desktop and my gf's desktop, so I have just put that on it.

My mum is using her surface RT as a desktop replacement as all she needs is office and emails. Very good devices tbh.

Getting about the same on Battery Life. Not a problem for me at all. Just have to make sure you power plan is set right.

been pondering on these as well, i really want em tho
I know Yaka, the gf just said "my mood lighting is lights off, or candles" :(
I think I'd love to have these bulbs everywhere, but at my current income (0) I can't afford or justify it really.
Although I guess having one in the bedroom and using it as a cheap version of the sunrise clocks might be worth it.

Office 365 really. Such a waste of money for not having anything if you stop payment

But on 3 PC's, all with flawless Skydrive sync and Onenote 2013 which is frankly brilliant, its worth it. And cheaper than buying stand-alone copies for all 3 PC's.

It probably doesn't count, but I think the £120 I just spent on a Samsung 840 250GB SSD might be the best money I have ever spent on a PC upgrade ever.

Cheaper for one year after 3 or 4 of a revenue stream it starts getting expensive. Especially as at the end when you cease paying you have nothing.

Cloud services paid for are a complete money sink.

They look good short term but long term it's a revenue stream that which ever company have you locked in to.

The 840 has essentially the same Sequential and Random Read performance as the Pro but (as you say) slower Write (about 30% less) but this is less important for day-to-day desktop use. It's also twice as fast (read and write) as the 32GB Intel SSD (ooooold) that I have my swap file on.

I would have gone for the Pro but I reckoned the extra £60 would be better spent on my GFX card upgrade (GTX 660) which I got at the same time.
