@Hawkwind about headphones I bought, though you seem to need to post in Sony's favour on the superiority of headphones you don't even own over ones you openly hate and refused to try when they were right there in the airport next to you...
Son wanted new over ear headphones for gym use so I got him the Sony's and I've tried them out. They are good and they were on sale, 400 AED cheaper than the Bose :)

IQOS

Just had a trial of this through. I posted it a few months ago, effecitvely an e-cig that uses tobacco rather than liquid. Initial impressions are excellent, smoother than smoking cigarettes, but more satisfying than an e-cig. Tastes like a cross between a cig and popcorn.

Only problem is how bloody addictive they are, i've had 4 in the last hour. Might need to have a Marlboro Red to kick the habit :)

Just an update if anyone cares, in the 5 days since I've had this, I've gone from 20 fags a day to 3, rest have all been replaced by IQOS.

Do you not get the tar and stuff from it? Whats the benefit? I guess you still get some of the nasty chems from the tobacco. Rather than just straight nicotine in the normal vape stuff.

Nope no tar at all, when you're done with a Heet, the filter is just as clean as when you started it. It is basically just an e cig, but rather than liquid it heats tobacco mixed with glycerine to produce a light Vapor rather than smoke. Because the tobacco isn't getting anywhere near as hot, it doesn't contain anywhere near as much bad stuff.

Cross vaping with smoking and you're pretty much there, and health wise it's somewhere in the middle from the research I've seen. Only issue for me is the refills are taxed as cigarettes, so in the UK they're £8 for 20 so not much cheaper than smoking.

Better tho :)

Very limited research on a tiny number of subjects for a short period of time (instead of millions, over decades).

But to be fair - smoking is so bad anyway it'd be amazing if it wasn't better :)

Lots of existing research on the chemicals in the vapour they can leverage tho.

However the fact that after a week my morning cough has gone, suggests to me it's a move in the right direction.

Actually considering these now. Amazon has some reviews that say they drop connection randomly but not by most people. Worth a try and return if they do maybe. Would be fucking annoying if they did though:

OK - didn't quire do that. Went with the original idea of a Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless. Mainly for PC gaming but will also do for listening to music whilst ironing. No NC but might think about getting an NC pair later in the year...

Also bought a new Soundbar :)

Seems expensive as it doesnt come witha bass box too. Think i got a sony one for 499 with wireless bass included.

Have to let us know how the bass goes just in the bar.

I like a dedicated sub woofer. I know you can add one later. Just sayin you might want to. Cause its hard to replicate a big bass sound in a bar imo

Soundbars? Pfft, I still have a pair of these bad boys hooked up to an AV amp.

Mission 733i Floor standing speakers review, test, price

No need for woofers here :)

I have also seen the future of customer service. I had an issue with my IQOS where it wouldn't charge (probably the car charger I was using didn't have enough grunt) - so I sent them a WhatsApp message. Described the issue, sent across a video of what was happening, they went through some troubleshooting options including factory reset, then finally suggested I use a wall charger and leave it on charge for a while. Woke up this morning it is cooking on gas again.

Got the soundbar and set it up last night. One of the reasons it does decent bass without a separate subwoofer is that the thing is actually really big and chunky. Much bigger than I imagined :)

Sounded pretty good when I watched War for the Planet of the Apes last night but I didn't have it turned up that loud because the kids were in bed. Hopefully I can give it some proper welly over the weekend!

As a trade off for the OH buying a new Dyson and to defuse the ensuing argument (why is the Dyson £400 when the VAX equivalent is £190 - and will it last longer than 3 years this time), I picked up a Smart Speaker for the kitchen. Surprisingly enough we went for the Sony one, and it is pretty impressive. It won't shake the kitchen apart with bass (we have other stereos for that :)), but Google Assistant works well, being splash proof is very useful for the kitchen and the clock is a simple but nice touch.

Although it won't get me a beer out of the fridge. Damn you Google.

Full sun and no breeze I'll be doing something other than sitting under a shelter :)

Will be used for evenings sat around a fire, keeping the rain away. Bought a side panel in case it gets mondo windy too.

Borrowed one s couple of years ago. Worked a treat :)

My trusty old Z5 Premium was starting to feel it's 3 years, generally getting quite slow with various bits falling over (Spotify for some reason only opened half the time), so have treated myself to an Xperia XZ2. Camera and screen are both superb, but the best bit for me is the battery life. I got into the car to go to work on Wednesday with 94% left, had the screen on the whole way running Google Maps, and had Spotify streaming over Bluetooth the entire way. An hour later, when I got into the office, I was on 85%.

Also came with a free PS4, a game and a year's subscription to PSN. The PS4 will get sold, but the game and PSN subscription are most welcome :)

Yep. It is. Put off buying one for a couple of years because of precicely that.

But they're A) huge (way bigger than they look) and B) they're not made of crisps. People wang cheap awnings up (or cheaper versions of that event shelter) and they break at the first sign of a mild breeze.

This fucker's nearly 30 kilos - steel poles - the model down is half the weight. The one I borrowed a couple of years ago survived a very blustery night - and when we work up in the morning other people on the campsite were picking up their broken shit (or just fucking off and leaving it in a heap against a hedge, the lazy fucks).

I'll keep it in good nick, hopefully it'll last me twenty years. - £16/year is way more sensible for something that can turn a wet and miserable holiday into something great :)
