Having lived in houses all my life I have become accustomed to really loud music.

Sadly, that is not the case anymore as I now live in a flat with 1 above and 1 below, but my lounge doesn't have any connecting walls, least I don't have to worry about the grass anymore :p

Had to lose the sub and only use small DT fronts and my centre speaker (im looking to replace all this with a smaller system). Main amp is a Yamaha DSP-A3090 which weighs the same as an empty fridge and sounds awesome as it is meant to be driven at a high load to get the best sound.

Anyway, I am off on a tangeant. I love loud music, so I want to know the best set of decent headphones I can purchase (not too expensive pls).

Are the wireless ones anygood? I know you can run into bandwidth limitations over the frequencies but I heard they have got better. Once I have a couple I will take a walk down some shop with some of my music and put them thru the pace.

Comments?

Don't bother with wireless unless you want to spend a BOMB.

Sennheiser's all the way. High quality, pristine sound, uber comfort. Very long lasting. You can get a pair of HD575s from Richer Sounds atm for £70 - well worth it.

I wouldn't bother with anyone other than senny if you're into sound, no-one else can come close.

/me goes to richer sounds to find nearest one to me

I have a set of wireless headphones, and tbh I wasn't pleased. I found that they tended to get a hint of noise (static bursts et al)as I moved about the house and that they were a tad too heavy for my taste as they have built-in batteries to drive them.

We have a pair of Bose triport Headphones, got them from over in the states. Are quite expensive but anyone who knows anything about sound will tell you Bose aren't to be snuffed at.

Cost us 160 odd dollars a few months back.

Edit: They are wired :)

The HD575's it will be if I like them on my syrup.

RicherSounds are in Croydon and I am off to Croydon in 10 mins to meet a girl for lunch, so after that, quick swifty down the road and bob's your uncle.

Then it is time to abuse my eardrums for a change instead of my wallet :p

TDC, where is my email ya git?

noooo fs I don't have it any more :/ I usually do a 'select-all+copy' before I send mail through a webbased app, but I've done some cuts and pastes in the meantime and it's gone :(

You are planning on playing loud music with headphones....

DB's you are going to end up deaf...just keep apologising to the neighbours and keep your health

A guy I work with was telling me about when his friend moved into a new place.

he went around and kept turning his music up and up and then popping round asking if they could hear it.

From then on he knew exactly what volume he could have it up to without disturbing his neighbours.

Got it and forwarded to my other account.

Just read it, very impressive but alas I do not posses the skills to do that. I was shit at Blue Peter stuff and this is more complicated :p

I will wait till you arrive at my gaff and I shall have a box with all the tools/ingredients in it for you :)

ah, glad you got it :)

pity you feel your skills are lacking though, there's party fun to be had when you unleash your creativity on medicinal herbage. I shall create both models discussed in the mail for you, and if things are costly I'll even chip in. I won't really join in though, as I officially quit 7 years ago...but one must sample ones creations. Can't be palming you off with shoddy workmanship now can I ;)

Shouldn't listen to music too loud on headphones unless you're a fan of Tenitis. I'm not but I am cursed with ringing in my ears whenever there's no noise about :( late at nights when I'm trying to get to sleep it's pretty clear.

Didn't have the HD525's anymore at RicherSounds. All shops sold out but I got the HD25SP at same price after listening to several different headphones.

Love 'em!!

I got a pair of Sennheiser HD 580s a year or two ago for around £70-£80. Very nice headphones. They're now £150 :eek6:

I have a pair of Jecklin Floats. Not headphones to be seen in, but they do (did actually cos the foam has disintegrated) sound wonderful.

Before those, I had some electrostatic headphones. They were quite old, and had poor bass response, but were the most sensitive crystal clear headphones ever.

/edit: If you would like to get a really good pair of electrostatic headphones, check these out
