Why does everyone think this is such a bad idea? Is it because she is dead? or because its Diana and OMG we arent ever allowed to think about her without shedding a tear because she was such a great fantastic women? Would it be ok if it was Princess Anne or Catherine of Aragon?

The Diana character will be one of a team of super-powered mutants which a Marvel spokesman said would be a satirical look at fame and pop culture.

And it looks like she wont be the only one.
I dont see anything wrong with this but i wont be buying it.

Its because she's dead, and she just isn't someone you'd think of as a superhero mutant style person, infact i dont think theres any real person you'd think of as a superhero mutant style person, except maybe Sir Jimmy Saville who I could picture in a leotard. uke:

I know she's dead, and its very sad whatever.


But I thought she was fairly atrocious when she was alive and that's certainly not diminished now she's dead. I can picture her as a superhero, swinging from bed to bed over the city skyline, watching open heart surgery with her xray eyes through hospital walls so she can simultaneously be photographed in natural light outside, juggling landmines and a make up bag.

I've no problems with who they use as these superheros. For me it's just the horrible realisation that Marvel have to resort to something this tacky to sell comics.

It's a story, with some PR spin (either by Marvel or by someone else) that's just highlighting a single element of the comic. Maybe some ppl who wouldn't usually pick up a comic will be intrigued enough to give it a go, but it's not representative of the creative product, i wouldn't think.

My fondest real life person in a comic memory would either be Richard Branson in Transformers, or Mr Benn in 2000AD.

And don't give me none of that 'Mr Benn is fictional' malarkey, neither.

I think famous for being famous is a pretty good description. Ben Affleck is the same thing IMO.

On marvel comics recently though, can I just point out how much of a god Bendis is. He made daredevil not suck, even after the aforementioned Affleck. Also, Snikt is a really good thus far, definitely cooler than most of the OMG LETS DO A WOLVERINE BOOK!!!1!!! annoyances that clutter up the shelves.
