too true

for some reason im very different to all the other younf drivers i know, and i put it down to one thing - road experiance

Since 13 odd i have done a lot of bike riding. First it was moutain biking along roads everywhere, then my moped, since i was 16, si i ride as well as drive a car, and it does give a LOT of road experiance. You know all the signs, the road conditions, and most important factor of all, you can "read" other people. Like i can tell that blokey over there isnt looking where he is going, and hes going to pull out regardless, or blokey in front doesnt know this road at all and is going to slam on his brakes at this next corner, even though it isnt a slow corner... so you stay well back. All this comes from experiance.

another thing is i havnt had ONE accident yet. No ones crashed into me or i crashed into anyone, unlike most of my m8s who have had crashes, even just touching bumpers slightly, i still consider them crashes of sorts.

so... experiance

It's annoying isn't it? It makes sweet F.A difference to insurance companies how supposedly safe you are on the road, how you're "not like other Nova drivers", etc. At the end of the day it's all done on variables and formulas - and Novas & Astras = normal insurance X 3

What I found surprising was that to insure me on a B reg Ford Fiesta 1.1 'Dash' it was £1000 when I passed my test

But to insure my self on a L reg Seat Ibiza 1.6i it was only £1300

I just don't understand :(

All this comes from experiance

Your post would have so much more credibility if you could spell the main point of it.

Re the rest of the info though - to be honest, I don't care if you're careful or not, if you're young you are still very likely to have an accident. If you got into an emergency situation through no fault of your own, you'd not handle it very well at all, because you're not used to doing so.

Because there's an underlying "foundation cost" that is added to all young drivers policy, regardless of the car.

Also, thought I'd just clear up the Bike v Car argument, and also the Clarkson test.

1) The clarkson test wasn't using a boxster it was a standard 911 (0-60 in 5.5 seconds).
2) The fastest race car around (i.e. a Ferrari F1) would shit over any of the fastest Sports bikes. On straights AND corners. Isn't that the crux of it gentleman?
3) Bikes are totally shitox round corners.
4) Bikes are shitox in horrible weather.
5) Can't take a well dressed and groomed woman out to dinner on the back of your bike.
6) Most bikers are total fucking moronic arseholes.

Thx.

Oh, and before anyone mentions the cost of bikes v cars....FUCK OFF YOU MONGOLOID PAKI BIKE RIDING FUCKWIT CUNT.

*Exor* i don't need to prove you wrong coz by comparing a race car to a sports bike, road/racing?, you've gone off at a tangent but then again who cares since you know nothing any way and its taken you ages just to find something to say...which was pure tosh

oh ffs...

just fuck off to another forum if you are gonna argue...

jesus... Grown ups? where?

stop acting like friken kids... If anything you are the people who should have the higher premiums, as you are the ones that are truly kids

Im not having a go at anyone, so dont even bother arguing back to me... just friken chill ok...

And about the bike V car thing

bikes would piss on the car in dry weather... End of.

Clarkson although he is a brilliant geezer is one sided - Cars own, bikes are shit.

Whatever he says about them would be bollocks, so theres no point in arguing.

If you are gonna argue about car Vs bikes, then at least get some "credable" evidence

And, unlike some, i dont really give a damn about my spelling - as long as people get it, im not worried.

Now, PEACE EVERYONE

just to add...

About that accident thing...

Ive been at accidents - not sure weather you have or not, but anyhow, ive seen 2 or 3 "grown ups" (me being young kid at 17) fall apart, and basically just get in the way. so far from been usefull in accidents they have been the opposite. Just goes to show age means jack shit, it comes down to experiance and mentality, which you my friend are a poor judge of (directed at exor)

Thank you

Embattle, you completely missed the point of my post. Are you thick or just doing it on purpose?

my mate has a bitchass car

admittly i dont know make/model which is all you lot care about but he gets some bitchass wheelspin.

however the police stoped us after work one night due to this. they asked where we were going, "home" then where we had come from "the crown, we work there" (the biggest pub in our town) THEN he got breathalised 'n' shit :)

fking coppers, if you've been near a pub...
he hadn't drunk anything but thats not the point.

If you say you've just come from a pub it's pretty much taken as given that the police will breathalise you.

You going to TRAX 2001 frankie (or indeed anyone)?

Whilst I generally think the idea of cruises is supremely gay, I quite fancy hammering it around Silverstone in my car. Once in a lifetime oppurtunity etc. I'd end up completely shafted by the meatier cars there tho :(

I might if I got the cash I hear its quite expensive for track time, the sprint test looks good tho to watch and maybe even get your own car on there :)

There is a club of people with the same car as me I hear that are going to so meeting them might be good

So you are saying that stands for you too? You're actually admitting it? Cuz you're also young :)

Marvellous.

Yes, it absolutely completely applies to me. That's why I pay over 2 grand for my car insurance. Hopefully now that I'm 20 though, my insurance will start to wind down a bit cost wise.

I will say one thing though, I'm a fucksight more experienced than little teenage frankie over there.
