this is the software design part of the semester, which I would be scoring 70% for if not for the one exam. I already completed the coding part of the semester and scored 80%.
The test is a domain model, designing and writing out some fully dressed use cases and a sequence diagram. I scored half marks on the DM, my bad as I forgot some stuff. Full marks on the UC design, 75% marks on the written UC's as the guy thought I was a bit brief in my scenarios (wft btw) and quarter marks on the SD, as I had forgotten to reference an object before writing things to it. As the SD scored the most overall points, I didn't make the grade. So....onwards and upwards eh

I am SO glad I can just scribble stuff on a whiteboard and then code it up. UML is for when you have outsourced the coding to India and you have to tell them how to spell the variables.

tbh both ERM and UML domain modeling don't sit well "in my head". I'm personally better suited to things like FCO-IM. Also, it kinda helps if I can actually study rather than being dead from work, but that's just an excuse really.

ok so another wtfbrainfart moment. another exam today, something I actually CAN do, eg SQL. One minute in to the exam I had a moment and just stopped understanding what I was doing. We were allowed to use some documentation and that meant nothing to me anymore, my laptop magically changed it's keyboard language so my @'s and "'s vanished and my SQL IDE stopped doing autocomplete and also decided to simply show every single statement I wrote as being incorrect in relationship to the database I was in.

so, I managed to recover a bit about half way through the allotted time, faffed some shit on to paper and at the termination of the exam fetched myself to the lecturer to basically break down and tell him I just sat through 1,5 hours of having no clue at all what I was supposed to be doing. and that for a programmingesque subject as well. not happened to me for the entirety of this bachelor course, and I felt (and feel, for that matter) horrible. after about an hour I pulled myself together and asked the three guys who's courses I now have to resit for for advice, and spoke to one of them in a brief 10 mins chat.

Anyway, I got home and decided that while I feel pretty sucky now, I know what I'm about and will finish the bachelor and get the paper regardless of this small streak of unlucky blah I am going through (there's more going on in both work and private life hey ho hey ho) so I'm just going to chill out, practice my uml's, erm's and sqls and patch all this shit up.

That happens in exams dude. It feels awful. But it sounds like you're going about it in the right way. Stick at it and do your best and I'm sure you'll sort it all out.

aaand did the resit again today, jus lil old me and the lecturer. went reasonably ok, I mean I had a so-so idea what I was doing and I was done within the time limit. then the lecturer showed me a picture of his daughter and talked about abseiling for half an hour (glaciers, not his daughter). which was kind of freaky tbh.
