surely if he speaks infront of the embassy he'll just be arrested? the path infront of it and the building itself is not ecuadorian, only a specific part of the building is I believe (that part not being the front)
Diplomatic vehicles also enjoy the same sovereignty as the building. He could get to Ecuador if he wanted.
Yes, and a diplomatic vehicle can be stopped. At some point he'd have to get out if he wanted to eat, and it's going to get pretty stinky in there in a day or two.he couldn't tho? he has to step on British soil to get into said vehicles and sooner or later he has to step out of said vehicles again to get on a plane etc.

Regardless, he has breached his bail conditions, which our judiciary will see as quite an affront. They took a chance on trusting him to do as he was told, in exchange for him not having to sit in jail whilst he appealed it, and he shoved it up their arse by walking into the Embassy. It's a bad idea to piss off judges.
Besides, when did it become ok to suprise sex someone, just cos you have a cool job?
He didn't though, did he?
Or was the a conviction we don't know about?
Well he's currently evading justice isn't he. It'll be up to the courts in Sweden to decide, assuming he's charged. If he wasn't this geek hero, say he was a politician, accused of raping 2 young swedes, and then hiding in another country, there'd be outrage all over this forum.
Then again Gumbo, has there been a really good reason for the western civilization to go to war in the past 20 odd years?
How is he evading justice when the first prosecutor dismissed it, he hasn't been charged ( no arrest warrant either ) and he's agreed to be interviewed by a) video link b) if swedish proscutor comes to him c) written questions via his lawyer.
Seems like sweden is doing an awful lot to extradite someone for an interview ( so the us can then extradite him from sweden ), rather than follow justice - or they'd be happy to interview him as above.
And that isn't even going in to how utterly lacking in merit the case is.
No, they just want to talk to him. They haven't charged him with anything and he has offered to talk to them here or answer any questions via writing. The case has been thrown out once and the girls he was knocking off only came up with the idea they were raped when they found out he was doing them both, before that they were bragging about it, they have changed their stories several times.Well he's currently evading justice isn't he. The recent wars have been illegal for reasons of greed, ie oil and the control of oil. He has uncovered evidence of mal-practise by governments, obviously they don't like this so have thrown their toys out of the pram. Very little put anyone's lives at risk, accept for the fact that it uncovered shortcomings in the political system. Some of what Wikileaks has released makes sense to be in the public domain. A lot of the corporate stuff, some of the governmental stuff. A lot doesn't and has put people in very real danger. There's a famous misquote about us sleeping soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready to visit violence on those who would do us harm. War is dirty, dirty things are done in order to prosecute wars. Wars are not fought according to some chivalrous code like knights jousting. Secretive things need to be done, always have been done, and will need to be done in the future. It's how the world turns.
lol at the geek pop...on a gaming forum. You big man you.Crusading geeks who can't or won't understand it, or just want to wave their digital willys because they've obtained some information which confirms what the rest of us grown ups already know, aren't going to change anything. They're just likely to make it harder for those people who are protecting us and our way of life to do their dangerous and dirty jobs.
A lot is made of the 2 girls meeting up and only then reporting it. There's been a ton of times where victims of child abuse have met up, sometimes years later through facebook etc, and together have found the courage to report it, having been to afraid to do it on their own.
Gumbo said:I don't know, I'm not the prosecuter, I'm not his defence lawyer, I'm certainly not a judge or jury. There's just often 2 sides to things, hero worship does tend to blind people and look for conspiracies behind everything. The rape case came up shortly after the wikileaks things, yes. have you seen Assange? Perhaps he had problems getting girls alone with him before he became the media whore, er crusader for truth that he so clearly is.
Embattle said:Again not that the UK government needs to use the Act since getting out of the embassy will be nearly impossible, the methods you've suggested Rynnor were covered earlier and they generally won't work.
Assange is a cocky cunt who requires punishment - this isn't up for argument.
So the upshot is:
