Help with windows games please!

Right hi, ive just reinstalled windows '98 and when I install Resident Evil 2, any of the DOOM's and C&C Tib sun, my computer stops and performs an illegal operation. Now i cant play these games cos when I finish the game it crashes.

However, with quake2, 3 and half-life its fine and works properly. What could possibly be wrong??

Oh and im not re-installing windows cos ive got about 100 MP3's.

you REALLY need to post such information as your system spec and driver dates for anyone to even consider bothering to help, GET TO IT!!

Well its got:

AMD 450
64 MB ram
Voodoo 1000 AGP, 8 meg OEM graphics card


Ive got Direct X 7.0a

Errrm driver dates......right.....

3Dfx Voodoo 3 driver:-

version:4.12.01.1213
release date:11-08-99

3Dfx Tools version:1.5.1.54

Anything else needed????
