I have a number (20) in cell A1.

In cell D1 I want to do the following.
Get the value of A1 and add 9. Minus 10% and then remove 9.

So it would be 20+9-10%-9.

My mathematics is pretty poor so I know I am not laying this out correctly, but I do not even know where to start :(

I don't know how to do it all in 1 cell as I don't have access to Excel right now, but

A1 =20

B1 =A1+9

C1 =B1*(1-10%)

D1 =C1-9

Then just hide B+C, or put them somewhere out of sight like 65k :)

There's probably an easier way to have the whole thing in one cell, someone else might be able to help with that if you need it.

=((A1+9)*0.9)-9

Copypasta that into cell D1.

Thanks Guys! I was struggling because I kept multiplying by 0.10 so ended up getting 10% of the amount, instead of 90%

/hugs

For future reference you can actually use full percentages in Excel formulas, i.e.

=((A1+9)*0.9)-9

and

=((A1+9)*90%)-9

both give you the same output
