Remember no game is safe from supermarket pricing. I'd give them a try tomorrow if you really want it release day. I'd bet it would be well under £30.

I've looked in the Sun today no special deals really all above the £35 mark except Tesco which is £28 if bought with 2100 msps at £16 quid or so.

On another note my friend is a manager at Tesco and they have scanned the limited edition black box version and it comes up as £49.99 if anyone wants that version.

for staff at tesco this month with our wage slip was another set of staff deals; one was for friends and family - £10 off when you spend £50 or more and your basic 10% staff savings to so it would only cost you £35 if your mate was nice :p

You do realise that they probably won't go live with the pricing until tomorrow? Worth a look, as what they advertise now could well change.

It could but in my experience usually what its scanned at is usualy the price unless they get wind of any asda offers.

Prices of games, and other media is highly price sensitive. Knowing this, most retailers will not set the price until the day of release. This stops the price being leaked to competitors.

Maybe it's not the case this time, but I did retail for 11 years, I know a thing or two.

The prices are in the papers the day before release any later and they lose customers because people do not know the price so average joe will just go to GAME.

The prices are in the papers so they wont change them now and no its not just this time either it happened for Fifa and COD and any otger big release in the last couple of years.

Just because Woolworths didnt bother advertising they were selling every game at full price doesnt mean every other place does.

Well... my lads are off to Game at 11:30 tonight to make sure they get a copy without delay. I'll be tucked up in bed, of course :)

big difference we have noticed compared with halo3 is not many are getting the legendary box set, we got plenty of orders for the standard and limited one. tho if asda and tesco begging selling at a loss like they did with cod mw2 we wont expect to shift many.

This seems to have universally good reviews. As I'm spending my first time at home for nine weeks this weekend I may well pick up a copy and take my Xbox for a spin :D

So has anyone played it in anger apart from me? Comments? Hate it? Love it? Worth the hype?

Also the sheer scale of the game, it really does look like an invasion is going off on missions bloody huge arse crusiers raining hell down on distant targets and banshees etc fightinh each other.

I don't think there has been that much hype for this game, in comparison to the likes of Halo 3 and even the CoD series now, just seems Microsoft is trying to build up a tonne of hype and it just didn't happen. The midnight launch I went to was dire, tiny amount of people in comparison to Halo 3 and MW2.

But yeah I'm really enjoying it, haven't touched the single player yet, but the MP is a huge improvement over Halo 3, it feels a lot more fluid.

Also Deebs, what do you mean by played in anger?

Indeed, it's even possible to find fault with Reach itself. The graphics, although an improvement over Halo 3, remain some way short of the best 360 titles. Dynamic check-pointing still occasionally leads to frustrating pinch points, and very occasionally to game breaking zugzwangs. And the narrative continues to mumble along like a Special Brew-drinking-tramp raving about something, something alien race, something humanity, something intergalactic war.

Right. So it isn't perfect then?

Sounds to me like MS have been sending out review copies in brown padded envelopes....

I also had to laugh when El Reg decribed Halo as "Genre-Defining". What genre would that be? Overhyped Tedious Shooters? Cos it certainly hasn't defined FPS.

Ignoring the silly scores, it has been well received, and that review is actually well written if you read the whole thing. I really dislike Halo games, something about them just really doesn't inspire me, but I may give this one a bash on rental or 2nd hand purely for the singe player.
