Ah right, i forgot about the canadians. Can you blame me? :D

Unite with the US?
US play on there own servers, i assume the Canadians play on the French servers as they are French Canadians...or nut cases. Guess we could go there but it would seem to be counter productive.

Apparently its gotten worse now. I took a break after the end of my story above. Apaprently this happened.

Aleksei: I mean if it's not closed situation like that would be common. Plus Desolation and frenchies are now working together against us. As in they don't even attack each other
me: Really? i hadn't noticed that
Aleksei: Yeah, they were attacking our keep together yesterday. As in close to each other
And one of our guys jumped into their zerg to kill the ram and they did not attack them until they realised he's not french
me: hmm
Aleksei: We are genuinly not liked

I'm personally actively considering moving else where as its:-
A- boring as crap
B- depressing as crap
C- sad as crap

That this is happening, I can take metagame but this just seems silly to me, and also exceedingly boring.

Perhaps what ANet need to do is have WvW resets (even when it moves to 2 weekly cycle, perhaps especially then) be during the peak time for WvW Populations, rather than in the dead hours when an uber-organised World can take advantage of its enemies having lower pops to zerg capture and upgrade the whole map. At least then people playing against the likes of VS would have some chance to get in a good position before the 'off' hours, and slow down any overnight capturing.

I do also have this idea about score tick rate being based on some average population across the 3 Worlds, so it ticks slower in the quieter hours and thus you can't get too far ahead on score due to uber-organisation during those times... but it wouldn't help with "OK, we have decent numbers in now, but are facing fully upgraded forts and keeps from the start" problem.

Ultimately it's just the nature of what is, after all, a game. Even back when EvE first launched I did wonder how any alliance was going to keep hold of things when you need organised 24/7 support, and then it starts feeling more like a job than fun. The solution of making NPC guards uber during off times is something many PvP'ers would whine loudly about.

You could go the while EvE path. In that keeps have to be reinforced first. They then enter a timer after which the lord becomes available to be murdered.

That works well in EvE when there's hundreds and hundreds of towers to siege..not so well in a DAoC style gameplay.

The only counter to such a tactic is to do it yourself. Apparently all the top 3 servers. VS FSP and Deso are all "24/7 servers" so we aren't allowed to whine. Deso and FSP aren't 24/7 only VS is...

Might work if the NPC guards are buffed or nerfed depending on the amount of players at any given time.

As in, taking a keep(etc) will be harder if the other side is at a disadvantage, but not impossible.

But, as always, 24/7 servers who especially are organized will always be on top and frankly that's how it should be.

Karma buff was quite nuts tho, took a tower and got 680 Karma

Karma seems to abundant that it's worthless. Then again, I've seen some very expensive karma gear at Rata Sum's central square, so ... maybe not.
If keep upgrades didn't have that monetary cost, I'd be throwing my karma about like confetti.

Surely you mean "Karma seems to be so abundant that it's worthless"?

Yes, yes I do.

Thanks for clearing that up.

You're welcome.

How have you been?

Fine thanks. A bit bored, depressed and a few niggles, but I'm sure you were only asking to be polite.

That's right. Bye bye.

Bye bye.

Depressed because you're bored, or something up that might benefit from an outside perspective?

Our real problem with VS is that we do not have forces enough to beat them during the night. This is because they have invited the canadians over to fill in for their server during the night! The question if this is fair play remains to be seen :)
FS (the times my server has been matched to it) doesn't behave any differently. Doesn't matter what time i go WvW there's ALWAYS a FS zerg around. :)

So yeah, you reap what you sow.. :p

Alarm clock raids aren't a solution either.. since most likely you get up at 5am, then spend 5 hours in the WvW queue anyway :)

Is there an actual need for gold at level 80 other than for crafting? I've spent time making money on the auction house / farming stuff for cash but I'm not sure if I'm wasting my time!

Commander ability costs 100g (allows you to make Squads), other than items on the AH there isn't much else to buy really. Perhaps working towards a Legendary Weapon, which is supposed to cost hundreds of gold..

  1. Cultural are in cities, but they suck..kinda aimed towards being a vanity/achievement item, only rare, not exotic
  2. The order you join as part of your personal story quest (Vigil, Priory or Whispers) sells gear, but again only rare, not exotic
  3. Orr (the level 80 zone) has a vendor at each Cathedral, which requires the DE chain leading upto that Cathedral to be completed. They sell exotic items at 42k Karma per item. Stats/pics here
  4. WvW quartermaster sells exotic items for the tokens you loot from enemies, also sells for Karma, but only Fine, Masterwork and Rare items.
  5. Crafers can make exotic too (although there is no crafted set for the Rabid stats, Condition damage, Toughness + Precison, which is a big FU to Necromancers )
  6. Explorable dungeons given tokens (30 for first run, 20 for subsequent runs) which you can use at the Lions Arch dungeon merchants (Fort Marriner Waypoint) for Rare (30~ per piece) and Exotic (180-390 per piece) items. (each dungeon only sells 3 different stat types, so check the vendor before you start running the dungeon as he may not sell the stats you're looking for  )
Also, the gear, regardless of how you obtain it is the same quality. There is no difference between PvP and PvE gear, the only difference is in the different tiers: Fine, Masterwork, Rare and Exotic. Each Tier will have slightly more stats than the previous (e.g. Rabid type helms have 21 precision, 21 toughness 30 condition damage when rare, this increases to 24/24/34 when it's exotic).

Near the Asuran portals when you first enter WvW. In enemy Borderlands this is the second hut on the left, not sure about Eternal Battleground or your own Borderland.

Cultural armor is 35-60-80. :)

Cultural weapons on the other hand is 40-60-80.

But i wouldn't bother with either of them except the level 80 stuff. I got stupid and bought a full set of level 35 culture armor for my necro and had it all replaced at level 40. So that was ~3 gold well spent :)
