Chosen is being slow though, the hacker has probably done more levels on his character than he has in such an amount of time :p

Haha, yeah. Going to bring the computer back home now, was a bad idea to have it at Nummis's place! Now he got a female visiting him over the weekend, so he wont let me inn....

Well, with what the hacker has given you you're around level 51, but you're on the Kaiang server :p

Get some levels in this weekend then do some crafting and you should get 80~ My ele will be 80 this weekend so going to start on my 4th ;)

Q to the Gunnars Hold people.

If you queue up ~6 in the evening...do you get in within 4 hours?

Depends what you queue for...
I usually queue for Borderlands and get in after about 20-30 minutes and then queue for Eternal Battlegrounds (which can take 1-2 hours)

I had a thought one day, what if the people of the realm could aid people in WvWvW, without being in the battle?

How you do it is irrelevant really, but we get bonuses from the WvWvW to PVE, so why not make it so that PVE can help your team do better. That way you could contribute 24/7 into the PVP scene, even if you're wiaiting in line to bash heads and stab ankles.

Resource collecting for rewards, crafting weapons to the warfront, builging siege engines, endless ideas for sure.

Mike Ferguson on the Current State of the World (vs. World)

by Mike Ferguson on September 18, 2012

Hey everyone, time for another world versus world update! Today I’ll be recapping some of the more important WvW related issues we’ve dealt with since we launched the game.

First, let’s talk about queues for WvW. Here’s how they work:
  • You can only be queued for one WvW map at a time.
  • If you try to enter a WvW map while queued for another map and the new map is not full, you will join that new map, but still be queued for the first one you tried to enter.
  • If you are queued for a WvW map and try to queue for a second WvW map that is full, you will be asked if you would like to queue for the second map. If you select ‘No,’ you will still be in queue for the first map. If you select ‘Yes,’ then you will enter the queue for the second map and no longer be queued for the first map.
  • You can be queued for a WvW map while in an overflow map, but you will not be able to see scores or team names at all while you are in an overflow map.
As many people already know, quite a few worlds frequently have multi-hour queues to get in to WvW (particularly the Eternal Battlegrounds), but there are also worlds that have minimal or even no queues at all during prime time.

Environment-WvW-590x331.jpg

If you are playing on one of the worlds that has extremely long queue times and can move to one of the lesser populated worlds, we would recommend doing this, since spreading out the player population will not only reduce queue times, but also help provide better competition for all worlds.

One reason some people experience long wait times is that we are still seeing extremely high concurrency rates, which makes queues longer on worlds that have a large number of players focused on WvW. We also discovered a bug that was allowing people to queue up and enter maps ahead of players who had been queued for much longer. Please check on our forums for an announcement when the fix has been implemented. This should fix the problem of some people staying queued for hours while other people can queue up for the same map and enter within a matter of minutes.

Another thing that is fairly constant across all worlds is that Eternal Battlegrounds (the central map in WvW) is by far the most popular map for people to queue for. You may help lower your wait time by queuing up for a borderlands map first, then entering the Eternal Battlegrounds queue once you are in the borderlands.

Now let’s talk about matchmaking and match timing.

During Headstart Access, we encountered a few issues that required us to take world matchmaking offline for a few days at launch. During this period, we let the matches run a bit longer, which is why some of you noticed that we had matches that lasted 2-3 days or scores would not be cleared out properly when matches were supposed to be reset.

The good news is that we were able to fix those issues quickly and have been running 24 hour matches since September 1. These games have given our ranking system enough data that, starting Friday, September 14, matches will run for 7 days.

We’ve changed to 7-day WvW matches instead of 14-day matches to let the ranking system get a few more points of data faster and to help people get used to playing in a longer match format. WvW match results and the initial world rankings can be found on our forums.

Another vid from my guild.

Nice footage, so carried by the Mesmer though. The Thief playing is so embarrassingly bad, would love to see stats on how much of his Heartseeker spam actually hit anything.

Does anyone here do much 5v5 btw? A bunch of my friends convinced me to buy the game (well, I bought it with prize money from T:A which made me feel better :p) and we're doing 5v5 a few nights a week. Game is okay, a lot has improved since alpha but PvP still feels so spammy. Nice to PvP in an MMO without gearing up though, couldn't say more about how much I like that.

I pretty much live in tpvp (5vs5) and I like it quite a lot. It's certainly more fun with a coherent team, but I'm quite happy to play games queuing by myself - I've met quite a range of good players that I now form teams with, and it's really gratifying when good players say you're good (though tbh I'm awesome! :p ). I find that pvp does require a large amount of knowledge, and having the ability to translate visual cues into useful data is vital. Is the mesmer field a chaos field or a null field? That spirit hammer just swung twice, time to dodge! All that sort of malarky. Of course, having a viable plan for each of the tpvp maps is a must. Now if only the gold tournament chests stopped giving me crap...

Certain classes also have insanely high skill ceilings (engineers, probably elementalists too) so there's always a process of learning how that works. I noticed I have to work a lot harder playing my engineer than I do my guardian, but my engineer does different things in tpvp.

Was having some fun with pugs on CoF exp since it's pretty easy to do. For the last few days every one has at least one person who knows an exploit and they all follow like lambs :(

WvW is kinda fun, but it's getting to me how it's just zerg v zerg at the moment.

I know there is SPvP, but I want just straight up open world fights too in a way!

Still, since I am not playing much the game is still fun to me, although there's some things I still don't like, it's a nice replacement for DAoC.

Oh the joy of a server you can WvWvW on after 10 mins queueing at prime time. AR had 3 full grps running together at said prime time, and it was GREAT. After 30 min queue's even at 2am on Shiverpeaks, it was a nice to finally play the endgame we came to play - open world pvp. Even got to do the Eternal Battlegrounds jumping puzzle/chest(20 pvp tokens & loot) - now that was fun, and only possible to do without 1000 french trying to stop you, oh and a Mesmer... :)

That's a known bug Fafnir, as in ArenaNet have admitted it and are investigating.

At the moment Gunnar's Hold queues seem non-existant during the day and short at night. We're taking a massive shafting from Desolation and Angry Rock [FR]. What a shame there is no alliance to sort this bullshit out. :(
