GOA = Pathetic

Strong title I admit.

Lets face it, what DO GOA do? They translate another Dev teams hard work into French, German (and English lol).

Do they do anything themselves to advance the game? Possibly, but if so, im yet to be aware of it on any large scale.....it has been over a year and all they seem to concentrate on is translations(slowly).

The only major problem they have faced(not only problem...but the only hi profile) that they have had to deal with independantly has been bugged XML files.....since February(ish). Here we are several months later...and still no fix....good job.

Maybe Mythic are working hard on a fix now....so GOA can work for 2 months translating it.


Sorry for the mild rant...but they are contemptuously running the Euro DAOC.....

PS..having just watched 'Waterloo' on DVD has nothign to do with this post.

Well, guess it aint ez for them, as they can't edit the software besides adding their own quests and translate the shit, so what can they do besides that?
okay true, it's running way too slow nowadays, imo they should patch english servers instantly, instead of letting us wait for french/german peepz, but then again, they will prolly whine aswell
as for the xml, i don't think goa is allowed to change that software, i think they allways have to wait for a newer version, sent by mythic, so blaim the mythic peepz for not sending the right files
And for quests/campains/event :
there u got a point, no one ever sees anything of these quests on a large scale, only thing i noticed from last campain, was that geershas were near hugin, and that strangers invaded vendo.
didn't hear anything about the story.
Neither are ppl interested in the campain, since they are either too hard, or just not worth it.
So why don't u mythic peepz include some sort of reward on these events? so ppl will more likely want to be involved in them.
and also, put them on a bigger scale, let those GM's and E&E ppl play event-chars more often, so all ppl can know something about the storyline.

Just my view onnit, cuz atm, i can't be bothered to even care about the current campaign (if there is one)

on a german server, they gave a reward for some campaign thing, a 100% qua thruster 16.2 DPs was a while ago though, about 6 months.

GOA have done NO quests or anythgin interactive inside the game (that I know of) for a long long time.

So essentially....are they just a bunch of translators? Because as you say...there is nothgin else they can be doing.....


Shame that a more pro active development company didnt run EURO..imho.

simplest thing GOA has done is made DAoC available as an EU version. without GOA, it's not certain there would be one.

I have nothgin against kemor....kemor does the 'in game fun bits'.


GOA...if they had anythgin about them...would press Mythic into the XML fixes etc. Its not liek they are doign much else(except translating of course).

Bah...forget I said anything.....GOA are superb and their work to advance DAOC is exemplary.

Lets hope all future MMORPGS show the same enthusiasm and pro activeness as GOA. Hail GOA.

A little thing called E3 is taking up most companies time atm. And yes, we're small fry and pretty unimportant to Mythic compared to their own customer base. I'm sure GOA are pressuring them, but they probably dont care, especially with 3 expansions on the way.

They run many servers and pay for a very expensive internet connection so you can connect to said servers.

Sorry I still remember the accouncment they made claimign they would be up to date with US servers patchign wise by April 2002 (yes 2 0 0 2 you read correct).

Whatever good they have done, patching is still slow imo, and I am getting NO benefit for it as I am not french or german and I do not require a bloody translation.

You mean apart from running, paying for and maintaining the european servers to bring Daoc closer to us Europeans, providing customer support (which I admit is rather lacking), enabling non-english speaking french and germans to play and trying to debug and maintain a game they didn't design?

I think GOA do a fine job. Sure, the XML thing is bad but......oh well it happens.

And you complain about the lack of campaigns here, no US server has had anything but player sponsored events afaik.....there have been VN whine threads asking mythic to put campaigns and events on their servers like the ones we get.

And they tried to explain the XML, as mythic is switching over to a different system for the herald files and stuff they cant get support for their current files. or something.

about goa being slow with patches.... that's because instead of releasing them all very quickly, we get lots and lots of patches in one...
have u read about 1.62? there's a, b, c, d, e, f,g, -z, we'll most probably get that in one patch to save us all a lot of little downloads, and so alot of the bugs are fixed so we never have to endure them...

goa's way tis best ^_^
