Awesome 4th episode. Going to have to watch it again. It was over too soon.

And in a couple of weeks it's all over. Then 18 months to wait until the final season.

There are so many small details that they put in, like when a Stark enters Winterfell, they play the same music, its such a subtle thing but it definitely shows how much time & attention they give every aspect of the show.

I'm going to be sad when this is all over.

And when Jon and Daenarys entered that cave, the same music played as did when Jon and Ygritte went into a cave...

I wonder if he pulls her hair too.

I wonder if we get some of those awkward post-knowledge star wars glances too.

The Iron Bank bloke is far too smug. After he lends her new campaign money, and she rules everything, what's to stop Cersei (a) just not paying the gold back; or, (b) do a Jamie & send the Mountain and a few thousand soldiers to rob all the gold from the Iron Bank...?

Technically, she hasn't paid the last lot back, any more :)

They were very keen to point out it was in the city just before they got Dragon-spanked, so I'm guessing that was to close a plot hole.

A. Lannisters pay their debts.
B. She's always going to need more money
C. No one seems to want to fuck with the Iron Bank or Braavos, even the Dothraki. In the books they also have a fleet that's easily the measure of anything the Iron Islands can muster.

Maybe it was just a bit of Lannister hubris, assuming that they'd get the convoy back without interference. Or maybe Cersei was saying "already secured" as in it was all under their control in those carts. There was definitely some gold in there because Jaime stopped the cart to give that bag of coins to Bronn and he was moving gold bars out the way...

I'm sure I heard Jamie say the gold was already through the gates of KL before the battle.

Oh, I just went back for another look and it was Randyll Tarly who rode up to Jaime and Bronn right before the shit hit the fan and he said "all the gold's safely through the gates at King's Landing".

The gold is all in Kings Landing, however, paying back everything you owe is rather silly. When you owe the bank £1,000,000, they own you. When you owe them £1,000,000,000, you own them.

Superb.

The only thing missing was an Only Fools & Horses chandelier drop, or Jon Snow falling through the ceiling onto the map.

So I heard the intro (which I always skip) bears relevance to the story. In the early seasons it shows the wall with the sea to the east, however its now showing the sea as being frozen, which falls in line with The Hounds vision about the white walkers walking past the wall.

All sci-fi/fantasy is a product of the time it's written.
The Iron Bank appeared pre-2007, when having an all-knowing "master of the universe" powerful bank pulling the strings was the norm.

Fully expect it to crash and burn when Martin releases the final books. Even in the show the banker seemed a bit pathetic this episode.

Please don't call GoT Sci-Fi ;)

Yep. All books are a product of their time. Sci-Fi, however, has uniquely looked to the future and helped bring it about.

GoT, on the other hand, is escapism about magic and dragons. It's Harry Potter for adults. Great entertainment, really great, but with nothing to say.

Episode 5 could never live up to Episode 4. Back to setting up the last two episodes. But a nice re-union of characters at the end :)

Good episode, though Danny during the Tarley burning seemed to have a twist in her. While Randell was a bit of a dick, Dickon wasn't a dick and seemed very foolhardy to have decided to follow his father - I guess Tyrion was wrong about the Tarley line since Sam is still alive and kicking, for now anyway... Danny seems to disregard any advice that Tyrion offers now showing a lack of trust there...

I think the scene with Sam, discussing Rhaegar and a secret marriage - That is MASSIVE if Lyanna and Rhaegar got married, Jon would supersede Danny no? Also with Sam high-tailing it out of the citadel, I hope he took that sword with him in that rush, no-one else in his family will lay claim to it now!

Tyrion and Jaime meeting was great to see - Cersei better not lay her hands on Bronn though, although I can see it being Jaime who murders him, or he runs in to The Mountain and that's it for him... He needs to get out of Kings Landing now. He won't join Dany though as she won't obviously pay for his services..

Also, Bronn spin-off would be cool.

What a botched and underwhelming use of The Hound this episode, so one has to wait another week to see him in action.

Nope, episode 6 has leaked, fairly good quality as well.
