Milou has a 24 TS-E. I want it, I want it bad. Giiiveeeeee to meeeeeeeeeeeeeee! ;)
24 TS-E II actually... >0

I rarely use it in tilt but as a straight 24mm the image across the frame is fab - no CA, tearing etc if even the extreme corners or at extreme contrast. Never sure if the price is justified and then I use it. Of course, the big question is can a move to Hasselblad MF be justified for 900px blog post...

Used to be a Hassleblad shop just around the corner from my work. It hurt walking past that place knowing I could probably never step inside. :D

I'll keep an eye out for a great 5D MKII deal and see how it goes over the next couple of months I think. Such a pain that when I can get a new camera it's the period where the MKII is 4 years old :)

My 350D died, so I got the 600D.
Considerably lighter, feels a bit more plasticky and toy-like. Can't argue with the image quality or features though.

Ilford Delta! there's a blast from the past :D I must have shot a million miles of Delta 400 and 100. I also used their paper. Multigrade somethingsomething it was called iirc? Was always a choice as a student, get another box of 8x10" or be able to eat ^^

I have stuff arriving today as well I hope! A flash, a pair of pocket wizard controllers and a lightstand and umbrella etc. I'm going to start photographing... PEOPLE.

Ugh, people. Best used as props. :p

I think I'll try and shoot some abstract stuff with the film, I was really pleased with my analogue distortions when I had a bash at doing something different a number of years back. Will hopefully get something for the Photocomp too.

Yeah, I'm apprehensive about people tbh but it's something I want to be at the very least "proficient" at. The thought of doing a wedding or something terrifies me so that's just plain not going to happen any time soon. But portraiture stuff in a studio environment does interest me, we shall see! And ofc off-camera flash is useful for loads of stuff other than portrait work.

I never got the studio love, even when I had proper access to one I didn't like shooting in it and I didn't like shooting people. I only really like candid shots of people, I generally don't personally like posed portraits or overly contrived photographs of things composed in such a manner that it might as well be a painting. I'm funny like that. :D

One thing I am bored to tears of is people shooting an old man with a very wrinkly face in black and white and filling the whole frame with it. Such an overused image.

Pulling out a couple of old lenses for this Praktica and was pleased to discover my f2.8 50mm and f.35 70-162mm lenses are both MACRO!

Anyone have any recommendations for M42 > Canon (EOS 300D) rings? Anyone ever used them? I'd love to try these lenses and the 50mm on my DSLR....

That kind of timeframe is about ideal really. In the meantime I can play with some film, although I do want to get a certain lens for my Praktica as my old one broke. Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar f/2.8 50mm - by no means a great lens but has good character and produces some nice shots on fullframe cameras, some lovely softness around the edges and a good sharp middle.

Won an auction for the lens, hope it arrives soon and isn't fucked. \o/

Arrived today, looks in fairly decent condition. A little dusty inside maybe but nothing a bit of brushing won't cure. Pretty much ready to go for film now, ordered a Canon adapter for my M42 lenses so when that comes I can (hopefully) show you all the lovely character this lens has.

Edit: Just realised that won't really be possible on my 300D as it's crop so it misses out almost all of the soft edges. GAH.

Damn, sounds like you'll just need to force yourself down the full frame route ;).

:D It should still be present on my analogue stuff though, although I can't make direct comparisons.

Small quick comparison, both f/2.8 40s ISO 800.

One's the new (old) lens I've just sourced:
CRW_3070_carl_zeiss_50mm.jpg

The other is the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8:

(click for larger - both untouched raws saved to .jpg, auto WB etc.)

It's hard to find dates but it looks like this lens is around 40-50 years old. Only cost £25.

Wazz, a mate of mine looks for old Leica lenses. He tells me you can actually send them off to Leica and have them refurbished for not too much dosh. Perhaps you can have your lens checked out by a specialist too and it will give you years more fun.
