You should be joyus and embracing of EF-S and EF-M - closer flange distance so that lenses can be optically simpler and thus cheaper, lighter and better.

How'd your evening go last night milou?
It was a bit haphazard I thought. We had name badges with our images on so I spent most of the time staring at badges. The pictures looked good on the walls although mine was at the back behind the bins. I met with a couple of peeps for a chinwag.

A couple of NEX lenses worth a look.

A new 16-50mm optically stabilised pancake 'powerzoom' standard kit lens to replace the ageing 18-55mm - http://www.ephotozine.com/article/sony-e-16-50mm-f-3-5-5-6-oss-lens-review-20667

Looks great for a standard kit lens, stopping down yields best results and the chromatic aberrations are very well controlled given the optical simplicity due to flange distance. Given it's only £300, I'll pick one up purely for holiday / lightweight use.

A new 35mm f/1.8 optically stabilised prime. Sharp wide open to biblically sharp from around f/2.8 - http://www.ephotozine.com/article/sony-e-35mm-f-1-8-oss-lens-review-20665

A bit dearer at £400, but the sharpness and minimal aberrations make it bargain of the century.

More to come.

The beta version of Google Chrome is now colour managed. That means photos on flickr and the ilk will not look washed out / super saturated any longer on IPS panels.

Dear Big G,

Fucking do one.

Just bought my first actual "normal" ball head. Yay. I stopped grumbling and got the tripod collar for the 100mm f2.8L as well.

*quietly grumble*

For €150 you'll be able to get a good Manfrotto and head. You won't need anything hugely fancy. Mine cost less than that and it weighs feck all (about 500g more than the stupidly expensive carbon fibre ones)

that better be some good head. I bought my first MF about 20 years ago. it was heavy as fook 0o anything lighter than 10 bricks is just awesome in my books!
