Cheers, I was just checking they weren't the McDonalds of action cameras, I'm happy to buy one cos they're entire advertising budget seems to stretch to paying the beer money of loonies to jump off mountains.

Going to give the NEX-7 back to my mate tomorrow. He's arranging an OM-D for me to demo.

What did you think of the NEX 7? Bit fiddly?

not at all. I thought it was reasonably easy to use, once I got my head around continually turning the top knobs the wrong way :)
Manual focus was an absolute breeze, along with most of the other manual operations.

My niggle was that for some reason I kept pressing the record button, although you can turn off film functions altogether in the setup iirc.
Got a bunch of pics in yesterday that I am just about to run though the 30 day version of lightroom.

More NEX cameras:

http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sony-nex-5r-announced-live-presentation-ongoing/

PDAF being the main feature but it requires compatible lenses....

...Still waiting on more lenses...

The hottest rumour yet is the full-frame NEX which is rumoured to have the same superb sensor as the 36 mp D800. This means full-frame Canon glass on the best full-frame sensor ever produced (currently not possible) - a landscaper's dream. September 12th for that one.

Nice, but the Hero 2 which is the one I'm getting is pretty well the same spec.

I know I sound like Bodhi's Sony prodigy, but there's nothing interesting going on in the Canon world other than delays and recalls.

Therefore:

Sony releases Action Cam - http://www.highsnobiety.com/2012/08/31/sony-releases-the-action-cam/

http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/sony-action-cam-wi/4505-6500_7-35426716.html

Sony Alpha A99, Sony's latest / newest full-frame flagship camera is due out on the 12th of Sept priced below Canon and Nikon's equivalent full-frame offerings - http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5-...-2800-big-announcement-day-on-september-12th/

As long as there is a long list of quality full-frame glass announced at the same time, I'll be interested to see how this pans out.

Klaus has finally reviewed the Samyang 24mm f/1.4 on a 5D Mk2

http://www.photozone.de/canon_eos_ff/769-samyang24f14eosff?start=1

As expected, it's brilliant - good from f/1.4 and stopping down to landscape apertures makes it very sharp indeed. In comparison to the Canon 24mm II L f/1.4 and Canon 24mm TS II, it's pretty damn close:

http://www.photozone.de/canon_eos_ff/514-canon24f14mk2ff?start=1

http://www.photozone.de/canon_eos_ff/603-canon24f35tse2?start=2

Offers a very capable prime landscape lens for full-frame at £500 which I think is a bargain considering the Canon 24mm II L f/1.4 comes in at £1300, the Canon 24mm TS II at £1600 and the Carl Zeiss Distagon 21mm f/2.8 at £1400. The bang per buck factor is sensational.

OK. Lots of macro close up stuff. I do a lot of detailed close up shots. Point & click street shots with ability to get a crisp zoom from across the road. Some night photography shots (long exposure shots of traffic, star fields).

I'm guessing for the macro stuff, you need to focus (no pun intended) on the lens, right??
