I'm starting to think there's a massive underground camera troll network headed up by Toht.

Oh and, my favourite lately? Forumites acting like girls off 'my sweet 16' - "I HATE CANON, IM SWITCHING TO NIKON" before they've even announced anything.

I wish I was exaggerating with this post, but from your post Cal it's clear I'm pretty accurate!

I love it, but I want to know the dynamic range of the sensor - if it's 14 stops, I'm buying.

Looks good. Also doesn't seem to be the size of a house, which is a big plus.

It will be compared to your dinky little 300D. :)

And G, I think that's a bit optimistic but we shall see. I don't think Canon has done a body with over 12 stops tbh (I don't know about the 1dx but I think the 1ds3 is their best effort).

If they're saying best-in-class image quality it's going to need to be.

Sony can pull it out of an APS-C sized sensor, I'd really expect Canon's new 5D flagship full frame to be able to be at least as good!

Edit: http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/Cameras/Camera-Sensor-Database/Nikon/D3X

A four year old 24mp sensor can achieve 13.7 stops, surely they'll have at least equalled four year old sensor tech?

Comes out at about £2840, or £4599 with the EF 24-70mm f2.8L.

With the 24-70mm I should say; I could rent until I sold off my unused 7D kit.

Must resist!

Oaaaaaft.

You investing Milou?
Doubt it to be honest. I'm ok with my gear at the mo, having just bought a RRS ballhead. I'd love to be able to justify a Phase One system.

I'm struggling to justify spending more money than I've ever spent on anything else before on a fucking camera :D

My boss used to spend £20k a year sending her two kids to school. I use that as justification... \o>

Blimey, launch price is *only* (hrrhrr) $3499 in some stores across the pond, that's under £2200!

Too much on CanonRumors to paste here but Canon's official press release, some sample images, a review by Jeff Ascough (he's a Canon ambassador so he's not exactly going to say it's rubbish) and also the release of a new flash. The 600 EX-RT Speedlite, RT stands for radio trigger (or radio something), it says it's compatible with the new Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT, which means no body-internal radio goodness yet. You still need to buy the ST-E3-RT. Good news for pocketwizard et al.

Looks epic.

1DX AF, improved sealing and 7D ergonomics? Sounds like a brilliant wedding and landscape tool. Hell, it'll even do sports and BIF. What more can you ask for?

For me, I care mostly for the improvement in sensor tech. If it ends up mostly the same as the MK2, I could be tempted to pickup a used MK2 as the 7D's AF is blistering enough and covers that style of shooting. All landscape shots I take are manually focussed, so don't care much for super quick AF there.

Looking forward to getting some RAWs!

Park Cameras are taking pre orders at £3000.

Used 5D Mk2 for ~£1000?

A lot of cash for the serious amateur, but also a lot of camera.

Used 5D MK2 and 24mm TS-E II for less cash? That's where I'd be tempted to splurge.
