it's in Dutch, but I assume you can use a translator.

I can't use a translator, but I can google a meme and stick it here instead.

That seems to be going on over here too.
bahs, all the more reason to not get one tbh. shame, as it's pretty nice. pretty nice, but not 2400 euros for a body and one lens nice imo.

I see the prices and think "who the fuck is buying them?".

I need a bit of advice guys. I've been told that I can photograph a work event and it will be my first time. I think I'll need to buy a battery pack, spare batteries and a 430ex flash at least. Where is the best place to buy this shit?

There's this thing called the internet. I heard it's reasonably competitive on prices, but you may have to wait a few days for it to arrive.

I hope that helps.

While you're at it, grab a handful of memory cards. Fast ones. Never be caught short!

Warehouse Express. Chances are you can find cheaper but they will have everything you need. And yeah, get a couple of memory cards as well. The batteries on my 50D last a bloody age when I have two of them in the battery grip. Like, a whole day, over 3000 shots in one day without charging. No flash or IS on that occasion, mind.

Another vote for Warehouseexpress, nothing but a brilliant service from them, however not always the best price. You definitely get what you pay for with their customer service.

Very reasonable shipping as well. I don't know if that's the case on that thar mainland but I never pay more than £25 to the south of France, no matter how big or heavy the order is.

I just bought some strobist kit to get me started. I've wanted this stuff since I did a photography course in Bristol and had a model to aim at.

2 x Stands
2 x black/white/silver umbrellas
2 x umbrella clamps
Canon 430EX-II
Yongnuo YN460-II
Yongnuo RF-602 wireless flash remotes
32 Duracell AA + AAA batteries

You might see more than just street shots from me now!

Nice Clown, I recently got some similarish stuff. Need another flash and another stand with softbox to start properly in portraiture. One mainlight with shoot-through umbrella at 45 ish degrees + the other light above the camera with softbox = some nice results.

I don't really know what to do with this lot and I don't know where I'm going to put it all, but I'm just going to piss about and see what happens :)
You don't post many pictures caLLous... What are you hiding?

Interesting guys, let me know how you get on Clown and get some shots up. I've always thought about getting some strobist kit (particularly when my nieces were born) but never got around to it (and I don't have lot of space in my flat to have it set up).

Cal, got any example shots to share?

I will soon, nothing shareworthy yet. I'm thinking of trying to set myself up as a "I will come to your house and shoot your gorgeous family*" sort of thing because there's potentially good money in it. Lots of things needed to start-up though, I haven't even thought about backgrounds and stuff. Figure I will just try to find a nice background in their own home or outside or something and go with that.

A studio is a-whole-nother kettle of ball games. I was lucky enough to have access to a friend's holiday home while they weren't using it. Nice varnished wood floor and generic white walls. I had the very patient son of a friend just kind of sit there while I messed about with the light and tried out different things. The instant difference you get to the depth (I guess) of the scene when you move the flash off-camera is astounding. I really do want to get a second flash for the fill-light, though. Through a softbox just above the camera, should make them look even better.

* Shoot in the photographic sense before I turn up on some watchlist. :\

What the fuck? Why so many umbrellas? RAIN?

Bless, there's only 2 umbrellas there Wazz. The white is translucent so you can shoot the flash through them and then you can put the silver cover on to shoot back into them and reflect onto the subject.

Fuji's bumped 100 euros off the initial xpro1 rrp as the original price was quoted "in error". 1699e for the body now. Still....

Yeah I saw that earlier. It's interesting from a photography pov but I hope that's not the trick Nokia is hoping is going to propel them back into the smartphone market. It's what looks like a very very impressive 41mp camera... strapped onto a Symbian phone.
