My starting team. Planned upgrades: Pato -> Cavani, Moralez or Coutinho (depending which I find performs better) -> El Sharaaway; Cambiasso -> Vidal; Gargano -> De Rossi; Gamberini -> Chiellini.

Planning to making a second (rest) squad based either around some of the same players I used in last year's final rest team (Muniain LW, Jeffren or Lamela RW in a 4321) or a boring Brazil team. Not sure yet. Also not sure if bench resting will work like last year either. Hoping so because if not I'll lose a lot of money on fitness cards :(.

Anyone else finished a team yet?

Yeah that's beast for FUT. Mirallas is a ST and Hazard is a CAM this year though. You could play 4-2-3-1 with Dembele or Hazard as CF and Mirallas + the other of Dembele/Hazard CAM though, would be pretty beast. Mirallas, Dembele, Fellaini and Vertonghen are all really cheap right now - could pick them all up for 2k each. Lukaku will be fucking expensive this year though as he is a 74 rated rare silver and he'll probably be one of the best silvers in the game.

Couple of trading tips if anyone is looking for easy(ish) money making methods:

- Look for the best players in their position in a league and buy the cheapest ones in GOOD FORMATIONS (41212, 4231, 4321, 4222 being the most popular) and sit on them until full console release. Their prices will sky rocket. So far I've invested in Abate (Italian, Serie A RB who plays for Milan) at around 3.5k per card and they should double in price if I'm lucky, the other player I've invested in is Javier Pastore (Argentinian CAM playing for PSG in Ligue 1) who I've picked up three cards for around 2.5k each. Again, he should double if not more. Either way you are VERY unlikely to lose any coins on doing this.

- Slow but steady: buy up any gold cards you can for 250 coins, then discard for 300. The competition for this is heavy, but if you can be bothered you can have a constant (but pretty slow, admittedly) flow of coins coming in.

- Invest in fitness cards - lots of people are selling off gold squad fitness cards for sub-1000 coins right now. They will DEFINITELY go up to anything up to 4000 once the game is out and people are playing games.

Hazard is LW not CAM, which actually makes things a little bit more difficult as there aren't any belgian RW's to play 4-2-3-1

Oh wtf. Was convinced he was a CAM! Wow, not a single gold Belgian RW or RF either. Crazy. They really need to make LW-CAM cards or allow you to get 9 chem with a LW in an LCAM spot in certain formations (4231, 4222). :(

Loving FIFA 13. Everything feels so fluid and natural, impact engine has been improved a lot. While I waited for early access to start on Saturday I spent about 5 hours playing a mate's copy of PES13, actually felt worse than the demo to me. Shots don't 'shoot' they float, players feel clunky and the controls for performing skill moves are so unnecessarily complicated and awkward compared to FIFA. Add on top of that the licensing issues, how bad the graphics are in comparison and the general lack of polish I honestly can't recommend PES players try to make the transition to FIFA enough. It's just such a better representation of football.

Did some hardcore trading over the past couple of days and now have two completed squads that I'll probably use for quite a long time until I can afford to build a proper dream team (something based around either Ribery or Ronaldo depending on how rich I get :p). Have to say Moralez in my Serie A team (the LCAM) is absolutely astonishingly good, he'll be a fantastic pickup for all budget Serie A teams this year imo.

The best thing about this is most of these players will rise - and some substantially - in value on the game's full release, at the very least none of them will lose value. For example I picked up Jovetic for 3100 and he is already at around 9000. Admittedly to get these squads so early I had to spend a lot of time trading on the web app and also got pretty damn lucky at times - pulled a Torres from a Season Ticket pack and picked up some insane deals using the 59th minute method.

Oh and I can also confirm that squad rotation to keep fitness up is still working, not quite as well as last year but if you rotate your team every two games you'll always keep full fitness and high morale.

From what I've played it's much improved in many areas but still has the long last FIFA bugs that are fucking shit:
- Stupidly loose marking in the box/Defenders running away from their men
- Switch to player running, player stops running (only ever seems to be when you switch to the last defender)
- Passes going places you didn't aim to
- Still too many fouls from the impact engine thinking it's just a normal collision

What I like that's been improved:
- Attacking movement. Your teammates actually make runs and give you support.
- It's now actually possible to score headers from your own crosses in open play.
- Dribbling feels much more natural, smooth and fluid. Feels like you can dribble like a footballer and no longer do you have to resort to unrealistic FIFA dribbling in order to get anywhere.

What I fear:
- They've taken the first touch thing too far, huge amounts of attacks now get broken down due to poor touches.

The loose defending is irritating yeah, I find the jockey button (L2 on Xbox) helps to circumvent that. Can't say I've felt that problem with player switching though - do you use LB or the right thumb stick to switch players?

On passing: switch to semi rather than assisted passing, it will help with that A LOT.

Agree on the first touch to an extent, but if you actually look at a real game of football the same thing happens a lot. I also believe that as players get more experienced with the game, player skill will be the difference in terms of pulling off good first touches compared to kids who just want to play long through balls and sprint on to them like previous iterations of the game.

I switch with L1. It doesn't happen all the time, just occasionally, and almost always as a throughball is played to their ST. Infuriating - already shipped a goal to a mate in the demo due to this.

Will try the semi, cheers.

Will have to see when the full game is out, the fear is that it'll occur too often for a game (thereby making it more frustrating than it should be). Matching realism should only go so far in playable games like this, make it too realistic and it'll be too hard to do anything. I don't like the way FIFA keeps adding layers of complexity in the game, it's become far too hard and fiddly to actually do all the things it has available. Control system needs refining to be more concise IMO.

Try switching with the right thumbstick - I found my control of players defensively improved dramatically when I did that. You're able to switch more accurately also as you flick the stick in the direction of the player you want to control rather than hoping LB picks the right player for you.

On the controls, I agree for sure. I played a LOT of FIFA12 (2000+ games online) and there were a few things I didn't pick up for months which improved my game dramatically. On some levels, I really like that it's complex but especially with things like the first touch controls it feels like they didn't take into account the previous controls enough when implementing them to ensure the game remained as intuitive as possible for the players.

I gave right analogue selecting a quick go and it was really good at selecting players.

Problem is now is do I try and convert 10 years of L1 switching? That's gonna be some hard musclememory to stop, BRO

Yeah, I had that problem at the beginning of FIFA 12. I had always played football games offline, and was originally a PES fanatic. Came to FIFA 12 and couldn't defend for toffee, got some tips from better players and that was one of the ones which hugely improved my game. Intercepting passes is SO important online and without R stick switching it's a LOT harder imo.

Anyone playing with a Serie A squad on FUT? I picked up two really cheap Erik Lamelas this morning - 1k, average price around 4-6k. He's one of the best players I've used so far this year, 5* skiller, left footed right forward. Happy to pass one on to anyone struggling to build a team. Also got some other cheapies - 19k Cavani (market price 25k), 17k David Villa (market price 22kish) and 15 gold squad fitness cards for less than 1k each - hoping to make a some nice profits there when all the kiddies start playing today.

How do you get so much on the first day? Do your old teams transfer over or something?
