Anyone who is planning on playing Ultimate Team, the web app - http://www.ea.com/soccer/fifa-ultimate-team - went up for Fifa 13 last night. You get a free daily gift (mostly shit, but free so worth logging in daily to get it) and a loyalty bonus based on how long you've played FUT. I got two gold packs and two player packs. I got nothing useful really, but managed to sell what I had to give me some collateral to start trading.

There are LOADS of amazing bargains right now. For example I bought a Pato in 4222 (the formation I plan to start out with) for 8.5k. I'll either use him in my starting team or at least double my money when the game is released, he was going for 60k at the start of FUT12 so I imagine 20k is a very conservative price estimate for him when the game comes out.

Seeing as I've been unable to use my 360 for the past two years, I'm clueless on anything involving it.

It's hard to get a fair opinion on what's better unless you haven't played either for ages. Someone who's used to fifa will always prefer it to PES regardless of which is actually better

Played a lot of both this year, and a lot of both demos for the new games. Honestly makes me laugh that anyone could say PES is a better game. It's trash.

PES is amazing this year, eksdee your a Fifa boy im honestly not surprised you didn't like it but each to their own.

PES honestly took me by surprise this year played the demo Monday and have been practicing ever since.

PES has been awful for a few years now so im happy they removed Seabass off the franchise and got some fresh blood in there to find that old magic again.

Everything on the pitch for me is superb this year the passing and shooting just feels so organic and free flowing. Manual passing/shooting is plain awesome.

The only thing that lets it down are probably the commentary/graphics but they are minor things in what is an outstanding return to form.

ok so how does the fifa13 UT thing work then?

I've got the game pre-ordered, and ive also got an EA sports thingy so i get early access, but all i get from the web app thing is "you havent purchased the game yet" so cant use ultimate team..

If you didn't play FUT before, you'll need to wait until you have the game itself. The web app early access is only for previous players so far as I understand it - should have pointed that out before, my bad.

I've been playing it for ages in FIFA12 (you gave me the Brazil team remember ) I didnt starting using the webapp bit until fairly recently though so maybe thats it, ah well I can start playing it properly through the early access thing on the season ticket from Saturday anyway.

For me PES was best when it was arcady (PES 5 was the best, anyone who says PES 6 is wrong). As soon as they started to go for more realism like FIFA it went downhill. FIFA is full of problems, but its still a better game.

PES5 and 6 were glorious, spent many a long night playing 2v2 on those games. Good times.

PES6 takes me back to me and my mates 2v2 games that went on for hours.

AC Milan vs Juventus. Last minute winner sending us ballistic. PES6+mates+beers was far superior, once it tried to get realistic it went to utter bollocks.
