Think BoB were in Fountain/Delve at the time. ASCN were heavyweights at the time, they were the alliance that built the first ever titan

Oh, well i can't remember them all. :)

Who were that alliance that tried to take on BoB just before Goons did then? I know they had that worthless space north of where BoB was...

I remember they bragged a lot at the beginning about how easy it went, just to fail horribly when BoB decided to get serious or something...

"Players were once caught plotting to cut the power lines to another player’s house to leave him exposed during a major battle"

Lol, i remember that. No surprises as to who it was, Band of Brothers of course. Had a CCP developer handing them blueprints, were the first alliance to use hacking and had the biggest cap fleet at the time and we still wiped them off the map

I call bullshit sensationalism on this. Plotting to cut power lines - where the action is a criminal offense - is something entirely different than theorizing about it, obviously by some delusional players.

For the sake of argument, surely Mittani did not mean that the player he lashed out against on Fanfest 2012 really should commit suicide? Goonswarm and PL especially have shown themselves exceptional in the out-of-EVE meta game. Typically spies, DDoS attacks on TS servers, hacking forums etc. Very many CCP developers are Goonswarm/PL members and it would be VERY naive to think they did not receive insider-information. Although probably not something as blatant as handing out BPO's.

If this kind of thing happened today, it probably would be "No surprises as to who it was, Goonswarm of course." No power bloc in EVE is as invested in the game as those players.

Eve politics seems so nerdy and pointless when you have been away for a year or so

That was ASCN yes. Dont think they were north of BoB though, they were to the east, Estoria etc.

It was hilarious

.

GIA intercepted the chat logs of BoB hierachy plotting to cut power lines. It was all over our forums at the time. Unless the BoB directors in question were making it up i dont know, but the chat logs were real. Who knows, but dont forget, BoB were also the ones who were emailing goons RL employers trying to get them fired from their RL jobs so I wouldnt put it past them.

Must have totally sucked for BoB to see them go from the most powerful alliance in the game to no bodies due to some Alliance who decided to play EvE for a laugh.

Don't undock in something you're not prepared to lose. Always keep an eye on local and never AFK unless you have docked. Don't trust anyone, especially not someone that says you can. Make sure you know what ships you want to spend most of your time flying at "end game" and plan your skill training accordingly. When in 0.4 - 0.0 space, always assume that everyone you meet is looking to kill you.

Oh and be ready to die a lot, be screwed over a lot by getting robbed, scammed and grieved at in general.

Everyone in EvE is an ass, get used to it.

Other then that, GLHF...

Doing the jobs tutorial at the moment and everything seems very confusing to me. I was trying to find an asteroid earlier but I didn't find anything which was a bit confusing, thanks to google I found out that the Asteroids had been cleared out and they only respawn after server restarts :p

I've heard this all over the place and while it's sound advice, the REAL advice is to remember this: YOU ARE NOT THE SHIP, even if you are always A ship.

By this, I mean you should expect to go through thousands of ships. They are disposable and you must remember they are just a tool. Losing a ship is NOT a big deal.

I think this would address the main reason people don't get far into Eve.

Getting podded only matters if you got implants iirc. And if you're in a position to risk getting podded (more then usual i might add) then you're not gonna use a clone that have any implants installed.

At least not unless you can comfortably replace them.

Well clones aswell. When I quit they cost about 13m ISK a pop to replace without implants.

Of course you get to a point where this is affordable for you then.

Curious to see what CCP will show off on saturday. WoD online maybe?

In the interview earlier today Helmar (CCP CEO) said something vague about adding more game-types to the Eve universe (i.e. Eve, Dust & x).

During the 15:00/08:00 Game Design: Balancing Tears & Laughter talk, research missions were addressed with the dev CCP Soundwave talking about how he didn't like passive income. When I played Eve I worked towards getting research stuff so I could buy PLEX and not pay-to-play any more, but my subs ran out before I got there :)

Think I need a months fix of eve soon!

Same thing though, love it for two weeks then get depressed by the skill queue.
