Eve is just boring, if anyone wants to try it, drop me a PM and I'll give you an account to try. Forgot I had already signed up twice, so I got three accounts in the beta now. :p

apparently it has a STEEEEP learning curve, it takes some skill and alot of understanding to play, thats why 85% of DAoC players dont like it coz it doesnt involve 1 to 10 kill buttons.

Just that every post i've read here has been a negative reaction apart from the odd one or two. So I'll go with the majority and agree it's boring and not bother trying it :D

haha :) i think its 50-50 tbh, but not sure and i can understand it being boring. But the same can be said for daoc :). I like it, but probably lots off people find it boring and you have to admit crafting IS boring :p

im too lazy to actually play eve and will just wait for some site to review it as it prolly will be as it was atleast a reasonable high expected game in the mmorpg genre :).

it does have a huge learning curve, i been playing about 3 weeks i think, and im still like a complete newbie, and dont even know really much of what im doing lol. but thats all good. with daoc, in 3 weeks you could be lvl 50 and be bored already :p

its a class game, people that dont like it and say its boring, dont understand it. and dont know what to do in particular. most people go on it and just mine mine mine constantly, because they cant think of anything else to do. but theres plenty.

overall it obviously beats daoc through the floor and back.. daoc is a poor mmorpg imo, very poor lastability. couldnt keep me addicted for more than 6 months at tops.

lol?

It is simple as hell and you hardly have to do anything yourself.

Mining:
Target roid, engage mininglaser, wait 10 minutes until cargohold is full, warp to station and unload.
Repeat.

Trading:
Study market, fly to a gazillion stations looking for good routes, find route, trade.

Pirate hunting:
Team up with others, kill.

Corp.wars:
Join corp. Wage war.

Piracy:
See Pirate hunting.

Manufacture:
Have blueprint, have materials, click button.

"Exping", ie. Learning Skills:
Find skillpack on market. Buy.
Select skill to train to next level. Mine/Piratehunt/Trade/Go to work. Done.

Now, ofcourse that may be someones cup of tea, so I won't dismiss it totally.
But saying it got a steep learning curve? Uhm, no.

I got in the Eve beta today aswell, so i'll give you an adults perspective on it later......

Unfortunately i can't play atm cus my motherboard blew up and im stuck on my bros crappy PC :( New motherboard arrived but i think i may have damaged the processor when putting it in. The temperature alarm goes off after it's been on for 10seconds :( It ran fine on old mobo.

btw its a 1.7Gig Intel P4 and Abit BE7 mobo.
Any thoughts welcome.

boo pc's

I got into eve beta. It disapointed me a bit, but then i used to love elite so was kind of imagining in my head how an elite on-line type thing should turn out. The fact that i didn't get to fly my ship was what put me off the most, just click here and your ship would go there. I wanted to be the pilot. :(
Never got to any fights but i couldn't imagine it being as much fun as most space games when all you do is tell your ship to attack.
Anyway, think i'll prolly play freelancer instead. :)

Don't slappy head thing me. :p
People are entitled to their opinions and after trying eve i decided it wasn't for me. When i play a space based game i wanna get in behind the joystick of the ship and fly it about the place. Don't want somethin else doin the work, hence i didn't really enjoy playing the game.
I can however see where it might appeal to some people, there is a lot that you can do in that game and it does have a huge learnin curve.

hmm its not a bad game once you get your first proper ship and start to explore...

if you are a bit of an older gamer and like a more relaxed pace of gaming then its definitely something to test out...

imo the combat is bloody nice also.

k, eve is so big im not gonna give you all the lowdown coz i cant be arsed typing 600,000+ words.

Basic.

When you start the first few hours are VERY boring, but then again I got bored of DAoC be4 I got to L4 and didnt play it for another week but im still ere now. So in other words the more you play the better it gets.
Mining is the simple way to get cash, its the farming mobs part of eve, it can get boring but when you make ur ship mining l33t it gets pritty fun, some types of rocks give off better gems so you gotta hunt across space, once you find them, (anything from 10 mins to 5 hours) dig yourself in and get mining, it gives such a sence of achievement.

So far im on my 2nd ship and im training in Industry (mining - Mine quicker) and engineering (Have the skill to add parts to your ship i.e new mining laser or more cargo space)

Weapons -

The weapons in the game are pritty simple, its just there components that are a twat, They are detailed right down to the bone, Size of the Gun... Will it fit on your ship ? does ur ship have enough energy to run it ? does your char have the skill to use such a weapon, ammo, what type ? the list is endless.

I advise anyone under the age of 18 not to get hyped up about eve coz u will find it boring, if ur below 16 dont even try it, its the sort of game that l33t kiddies can NEVER prosper on, it takes time, dedication, planning and alot of thought to make your way through this game, imo its brill and Im not even past the noob mining phase yet.
(everyone goes through a noob mining phase to collect cash for a new fighter ship or cruser etc.... or need cash to follow there profession)

boring is a matter of opinion, imo DAoC is alot worse at gettin boring, eve does not come into its own after a month or two of playing, thats possibly its major weak point.

went on my first corp mining session yesterday night. great fun, all i did was mine some rare ore with the others for about an hour or so, then my leader gave me 800k for a new ship (the ship is only 575k but he gave me the 'spare change'). and mining in a corp is far more fun, people to talk to :p
