Why the hell is it that everytime i go to the doctor, they put me on some meds, which then take their respective turns to kick the living shhh... out of my body?

I got a banged up, slightly infected, elbow back a few months. Got meds, and those meds f*cked up my stomach for three days.

Fun.

I think not, but let's roll with it.

Now i've got a backpain, which i got pills for, and now my poop is white. Yes, white. Because those f*cking pills attack my liver as well as my back :(

I swear to gods if my liver gets messed up by a doctors "i'm gonna give you the cheap pills" reasoning, i'm going postal.

been back to the doctors once a week for 4 weeks now, and everytime they say 'hmm well that didnt work, lets try these' which means that i have now spent over £50 on perscriptions in a month, fuckers

Why cant they just give me the stong stuff in the first place, rather that building up to it

Next time tell him to pre write out all the other prescriptions that have a small chance of working then put them all in a hat for you to pick one out. Sort of a NHS lucky dip!:D

if its something like anti biotics i dont think its desireable to give the strongest first. your body might not need it for a start and the more anti biotic you take, the less effective it gets.

this is off topic, the whole point is to talk about random things, be it things affecting you at the moment. Or Boobs!

What do you expect from him? :) people have known who he is for donkeys years. Though he does seem to attempt to behave himself on his current user name.

Yes Raven, enlighten us ^^

But about the pills, it really depends on what you have. I had a rather harsh skin problem and I got really badass pills against that. Forbidden for women cause they cause of high risks of handicapped children and otherwise with a gazillion of sidefects. VERY dry skin, stomach problems … but at least I got rid of my initial skin problem =)

But back to your problem. I think for back problems it's not always 100% neccessary to take meds at all. In most cases, it's just the easier solution and one that might benefit your doctor (no idea about the Finnish health system). Maybe if you go to an orthopaedist he can tell you about different methods. But those will be - no secret there - linked to some exercises and take longer (but imho have a better effect).

I'm glad I have a doctor who is very slow with giving out the hard stuff, but sometimes you really need it. I hope you can sort it out differently, cause that would really benefit the rest of your organs I bet.

Better then my doctors who seem to, pretty much everytime I go there, just say deal with it and that's it... I ended up getting quite rude when it was said at an asthma check-up.

i generally feel guilty going to the doctors. i could be wasting their time and i dont know how bad my complaint is compared to someone else who might need the booking slot.
my level of pain or what ever may not compare to someone elses so they could be in more need than me.

Exactly how I'm made to feel as well mate. It pisses me off and everytime I think of it I think hold on a second... whos paying their wages anyway? Hence why I'll go there anyway. If you push things on them at least they have some sort of a molare code to follow and at least follow them up. While it is nice to have a nice doctor, it's better if you actually have them do their job and look out for you afterall, as I say, you're paying their wages.

I also have no feelings of remorse going there when I think about what they're being paid for to essentially have a medical 'google' in front of them. I'm sorry, I have a respect for hospital doctors, especially surgeons who have to work for 5 years just to qualify then be on 30-40k for 10 years before they get a good salary but GPs go directly into having a 6 figure salary for what I see as an easy job.

They rarely get problems right the first time round which I can understand, medicine is afterall quite a lot of guess work but as an example, when I went in with heart problems, they gave me a monitor and despite the fact that I'd have my heart going mental at times when I was doing nothing, it skipping beats and generally being a big nuisance, all I got was a phonecall to say "Your heart is fine". No explaination, nothing. Not even saying it's normal for those sorts of problems. I sorted my diet out, stopped drinking and it still carried on and still comes back every so often but at the time I was worried and have the feeling of you wasting their time is the exact reason why some people don't go in for problems and end up with lifetime issues as a result.

i dont base it on wasting their time though. usually everytime ive gone to the doctors, they want to do something to diagnose if it is one thing or another. i hear this a lot though, people go in with something and their doctor does nothing. my doctor always does at least something and ive not been sent home without something being done.

i simply feel guilty because how do i know how important my problem is compared to everyone else. when i ended up in hopsital on one occassion though, the rounds doctor was less than happy that id waited a week. it cost them a fair bit more in time and money i think. oh well. but the reason i went in ofr that is still a slight problem to me. i seen the doc, then a CT scan, then a lumbar puncture, then a neuroscientist, then back to the docs for pills, then another neuroscientist, an MRI scan. i never did find out what the problem is, all i know is that as far as they are concerned its nothing serious. i still have the odd twinge but if they cant find anything wrong i cant expect them to tell me what the problem is! although everytime i goto the docs now, they will always ask me "how is it now then".

tris- i know what you mean, but you really shouldn't feel bad. Afterall, you could die if you don't get things checked out, and your death would serve no purpose.

Also, faster analysis means, as you said, less expenses if things are f*cked up.

I think, that while people need to be less selfish about certain things, they also should be more selfish in other areas.

That made me all warm and fussy inside! :d

On-topic: I had some problems with my chest not long back - constant pains and tightness in the shoulder and chest when i did exercise. I also, as to this day, have something the missus describes as 'totally gross,' where if I lay down, you can feel and physically see the heartbeat rising slightly out of the chest.

Ofcourse, when I told the doctor about this, he didn't even fuckin take a look, just checked my heart (when I was sitting - even though I said pain during exercise and discomfort when laying down) and sent me on my way.

Back the 2nd time, the same happened and I was sent out.

In the end I fuckin gave up and accepted my fate!

Over-paid wankers.
