What's to discuss exactly pc players moaning they are getting screwed over is nothing new?

Either go a long with it or pirate the game like probably most of you will anyway eh?

we are being screwed over is the point

what your missing is this :

PC games have a set format in the mainstream. breaking from that causes annoyance to people and buggers up a lot of stuff. clans who actually OWN or RENT servers are now out of pocket..waa wwaaa a few thousand pounds ?

and will you grow up with your general comments about PC gamers . yes we ALL pirate EVERYTHING.. ALL THE TIME.. or your just ignorant and cant find a better reason to try to reinforce your deluded point that somehow were just whiners and your all so amazing and clever and good .. oh and btw, list for me please the games and companies that make console games, followed by the stuff they made for PC BEFORE they went onto consoles, that the whinging pirates all bought to keep the company going , so they would be around now ?

Aada, you're being wilfully stupid now. Change is always on the horizon so people shouldn't complain when that change happens to be absolutely shit?

Sorry mate, most people aren't quite so apathetic.

What's happening at the moment, boycott and spend your money elsewhere. I'll be getting borderlands and torchlight instead.

A noise can be made. One loud enough that when the sales are hurt they don't just say "gah, piracy" they say "hmm, maybe we should have listened?".

Oh, also the more noise that's made, the more people will be aware of the changes and might think twice about buying a hobbled product.

By the way, I'm not upset - I had no intention of playing multiplayer MW2 anyway, not my type of online game. I was going to buy it but not anymore. Don't fancy support a company that will quite happily fuck over some of its customers and then lie to their face about the reasons.

Just a few more hours and Torchlight will unlock, can't wait, shame it can't be pre-loaded on steam though.

You went from taunting/gloating to now being sympathetic? lol.

If you look my first couple of posts in the thread you can see I'm not having a laugh about it I've just learnt in the past that once stuff like this is decided they won't change it.

It quite possibly will if their sales are fucked over enough, and the way to fuck over their sales is to make people aware.

The sales of the ps3/360 versions will far out weigh that of the pc version even if it that version sells well they probably wouldn't
notice it that much compared to the console version.

I don't think pc players realise how big of a game this is for consoles it sells well constantly all year round for the 360 COD4 has never ever really left the charts it's always been there and goes up and down all the time. The 360 version will sell at least 2 million copies easy within the first 2 weeks the pc version would probably only sell a fraction of that if it sold well.

I'm not sure that's the point. Ultimately they still want to make as much money as they can from the PC platform, otherwise they wouldn't even bother developing for it. If this business decision ends up harming PC sales then it may well make them rethink what they've done to the PC version.

The thing i don't 'get' is why some people are defending IW for this decision when PC Gamers have a 'whine'. What do you owe IW? Sure they made a great game in MW1 but you paid the price and owe them nothing more - so crawl out of their arse.

Ultimately IW have taken something away from the PC Gamers, something that's pretty much the norm in that side of the market. If you need something to relate it to to understand why PC Gamers may be a bit pissed is it's akin to releasing the game for Xbox360/PS3 with no gamer point awards or trophies - an act some may have no problem with, but i suspect the majority would.

I'm in no way a console gamer or a PC gamer, i see myself as just a 'gamer'. I was going to pick this up for the PC but given the triple whammy of hiking the price, Bobby Koticks recent comments (making me loathe the idea of lining his pockets further), and this removal so close to release has made me reconsider. As others have stated i may have to do this the Somalian way, yarrgh.

Nope, do tell.

And what Bullitt said. I would have probably bought this on PC as well as my 360. You get a different type of experience, PC fps attracts a more serious player, a better server experience and more team play. That will all be sadly lacking thanks to IW's decision.

I personally dont mind too much about achievement points but i do see where you are coming from, i know many people like to try get full 1000 on every game.

Watch the video Wonk posted, or read my huge spoilers below:

You start as a terrorist (though really a CIA undercover guy from what I gather). You go through an airport and gun down crowds of innocent and helpless people. It really looks brutal and I'm sure they're going to get a shitload of flak for it.

Its big for the PC gaming community aswell the COD series has been a staple for the PC gaming Community since COD1, heck COD4 tournaments are still big and are a feature of the last two i-series's I went to and will be cash prizes next year. WAW was given almost no time with only a friendly tournament set-up for people to play. It just seems that IW have got confused on the one hand they say the PC version is most the fully featured and best looking of the lot, yet on the other hand they take away dedicated servers (a staple of online gaming) As I said in another MW2 thread, that's fine for consoles as they are usually the only thing connected to the net, but with PC's you have the game, steam (Usually but not always) anti virus/spyware, Firewalls and a number of programs including Windows are using the net at the same time, which vastly increases a persons ping, so dedicated servers make sense for people can play without huge amounts of lag, its like going back into the old days of Myth 2 and having Lag come into a game and when it catches up you find all your forces destroyed and someone has won the game.
