I can actually see what they're saying. Whenever I log on for a quick game of CoD4 on the PC I'm met with a long list of modded servers, cheaters, locked servers, clan servers. You see I'm a lone player, I don't log on to play with my mates so it wouldn't really effect me at all. I'd get a nice cheat free, up to date version of the game to play at random.

On the other hand my experience so far with online console gaming has been pretty bad so far. Left 4 dead being a pain in the arse, connecting to some American kid whos downloading porn at the same time seems to give me pings I can only recall in my 56k modem nightmares. And if this system is similar to that, well I can understand the uproar. It seems the matchmaking system as it stands is nowhere near up to the job, hell it'd be nice if they at least attempted to find someone for you in the same country ffs!!!

Due to my 50meg line me or one of my housemates always ends up being the host for COD4 so no problems connecting with us at all

Also on Xbox Live there is little to no lag, the only time i see lag is when 3/4 people all log into the round at once then it calms down again. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to online imo

Modders don't ruin games, in many cases (Quake 2, Warcraft 3, to name a couple, hell Counter Strike was a fucking fan mod), they made a game mode better than the original. And the argument isn't purely or even mostly about modding.

get your arse on a mouse + keyboard server, get schooled, then "take your beating" , otherwise shut up - theyre different styles, its not suprising people cant be good with both

modders massively improved the first COD:MW*, and custom servers with or without mods keep a game fresh and interesting.

*particularly the one that had the "if your feet leave the ground you put your gun away for 2 seconds" mod that killed bunnyhoppers

Well its true, stick controls are the biggest handicap ever, atleast over keyboard and mouse.
