only had 1 wiz in my grp which sucked 2 melee and that bloody dog he just kept pickin my wiz up and 2 shottin him
my only gripe is like someone mentioned the difficulty seems to be random. fine killin 5-6 mobs in 1 go then i come up against an ogre and no amount of tactical fighting would bring it down and i was forced to lower the difficulty which i thought was a shame cos up until that point i was finding it engaging. my group was completely inadequate for the fight but it was the party i was practically given which was a bit shit.
I killed the ogre in the tower on my first try, but used quite alot of time kiting the sucker around on my mage char yea. Since its higher level it will on average resist more spells and special attacks
I'm playing on hard btw. Healing is way too strong on normal, plus half friendly fire on normal is wank.
For groups on my mage I send in the warrior (Stein/Alistair atm) then pick the target hes hitting then cast the resist decrease hex on the primary, walking bomb, life drain x 2 (morrigan + me) and then arcane blast. Make sure they're nice and bunched up. Can also use horror x2 + paralysis (can't wait for area of effect spells) to do some crowd control so that the tank doesn't drop too fast
Also if you don't play a mage, keeping around Morrigan (or whatever entropy mage you can get) is very handy, crowd control is quite powerful in this game even on hard
Playing on hard too and the friendly fire is another thing you have to consider when opening up with ape spells.
Normal is for chumps.
Tank in dragonscale armour (high fire resist) and knockdown immune - Taunt the mobs then land fireball/firestorm on him
Do you not get stuck in the fade on the bottom island? There seems to be a graphics glitch I can't get past... and it seems I'm not alone: GameSpot Forums - Dragon Age: Origins - Shale in the Fade (Bug?)
Nice theory, but taunt is rubbish. Honestly, does it even work? Mobs just run past taunting & threatening tanks and big battles always end up as a blob. No way I can use FF spells there.
Because heal is immensly powerful in itself on normal.Actually, I just game Morigan "Heal" (yes, I feel dirty) and it's suddenly a piece of cake. One. Spell. Game?
I'm not getting the spell combo thing, either. What's the point in all these AE spells when they do Friendly Fire? I'm just avoiding those ones at all costs.
just finished it
once you get near the end it carries you along a bit, and you cant go on after u finish the main campaign, so finish up the side bits first if you want
lvl 20 human noble warrior
now to start an evil toon....
That was fast, how much time did you use? Is there really anything beyond getting Mages+Elves+Dwarves+Humans to help ?

But sure, if you like to play on easymode, by all means
With my char + Shale + Sten + Morrigan
Irony? I mean, they did say that you can have a goody two-shoes team that's not as good as the badass evil crew. I believe you've gone with the latter.
You still need a tank / warrior char to tackle bosses, they resist spells alot
Has anyone else find themselves attached to their party I've been with the same 4 guys now and find iv found out so much about them that I don't want try any new party members
