They dont have the capacity to let it be free just yet. There is a huge fanbase, which could challenge League of Legends in some parts of the world. Especially after the 1.6million $ tournament that was held in August. (And the incredibly badly run LoL tournament held shortly afterwards).


Giving out keys are a safe way of increasing playerbase, apparently. Ive got a few keys aswell, give me a shout if you want one!

Oh man I did not realise so many are playing. I used to play LOL so I had a head start on beginners. Things to remember are:

Early on its all about staying alive. You get xp for each mob which dies in the local area, but you get gold if you get the last hit.

Teleport scrolls are very useful as you can double tap to port back to base, or teleport to a tower.

Donkey. Bind this to a key. When you want to buy something, shift click it to add the ingredients permanently to below the buy screen. You can then select donkey, send him to base or secret shop and get him to pickup the items. Then send him to you for delivery.

Alt+click let's others know what you are clicking. Helps when people are on roshan and you wanna gank.

Carries. Carry classes are super strong at end game so be careful of dying to them.

Bkb (black king bar I think) it's magic immunity. Also blink dagger for melee.

Oh and how funny is Kunkka with that fucking ship!

I like Dota 2 alot, but when it comes too pub games.. everyone tends too wanna play hard carrys

Yeah I figure everyone wants to be the hero getting all the kills.
I have only played it with friends against bots as I am learning heroes etc.

If you look for Na'vi on youtube you can see how the pro's play. It's nice seeing what they buy, how they work together etc.

I think dotafire.com have class guides which helps too.

Sure, but Im back on Uni and cant play at the moment. I'd give any pointers youd want out of game though! I'm mostly a supporter with the occasional ganker thrown in. Give me a pm?

Ive been thinking about trying dota2, i played a little LoL over the summer. Been put off by the massive knowledgebase that will be required to be half-proficient though. Is the community any better than LoLs?

never tryed lol, but from what i've heard its faster and easier then dota 2.

Dota is better. The graphics are better and the community are not as retarded. Also LOL requires micro payments for all the heroes which is gay. DOTA said the only things you will purchase are custom skins etc. Nothing to give you an edge.

When it comes to MOBAs the community, if you soloque, will be bad.

To make it a shortstory: DoTA is the original game, that HoN and LoL is based upon. DoTA was long dead until Valve picked up Dota2. LoL is a dumbed down and speeded up version of dota2, with a much lesser learning curve. Ive played it for a bit, and for me it's just a lesser game. Doesnt have the detail or level of Dota2, at all. However, it's a much more casual game, easier to grasp.

As Im at uni and cant play, you should really get a FH community up. It makes the world to not have to soloque with russian idiots.

You should all check out joindota.com. One of the first and largest communities, and they have Tobiwan casting all the games, a forum and a list of all games going on. Can learn a lot from there!
