Because it's simply an improved version of D2..

D3 just seems to be a mix of WoW and D2 with all the fun features of D2 taken away.

Pointless speculating what D3 will be like, from what we've seen in the beta you cannot base an entire opinion of the game because its not released yet. As for the exiles game it just looks like your typical D2 clone, seen plenty of them. Diablo is unique because its Diablo, it has the lore and what not to fall back on, clones do not.

A free to play game made by a little known developer is conducive of a quality game then is it? Nice job basing the entire D3 game on the first few hours. If everyone did that no one would complete any of the Final Fantasy games.

What? a well done *clone* does have lore to fall back on.. nothing wrong with being a D2 clone at all really.

The beta was 1 month before the actual game release, they can't really change the game much from that to the release at all.. so an opinion CAN be based on that beta..

D3 will be popular solely due to the blizzard fan boys anyway.

Nope but a lot of the small developers put a lot more heart and soul in to their games, and it really shows when you play a decent one.

Yes I have seen the first 1-2 hours and I can already say the game won't be as fun as D2.. no potion spamming or any of the portal stuff from D2 which made it the game it was! plus not many decent fun classes from the looks of it.

If you think Path of Exile looks shit after watching that video then I'm guessing you think D2/D3 both look shit as well.. it's literally trying to become everything which people wanted D3 to be and by the looks of it (from early Beta) it's succeeding.

No, I dont think D2 was shit actually.. I played it for a very long time and still play it today from time to time. You just can't compare clones to the real deal, not my fault you think potion spamming is what made D2 so great, clearly you havent understood the game at all if you think thats all it was about.

At first glance it looks like a diablo clone, but it's so far from diablo on so many levels. I've played it for many hours now (reached 47 in HC league) and it is a very good indie game with alot of depth. To name a few, the huge passive skilltree which is the same for all classes, except that each class has a different starting point in it. The abilities that can be used by any class, just by slotting into the weapons and add synergies to existing abilities. Graphics wise its opted for a more gritty realistic style instead of the gloomy style in D3. Alll in all it is a very good game. Plus the economics are really interesting as they cater more to face to face trade with all its drawbacks ofc. There's no universal currency like gold, but instead orbs drop that can alter your equipment or reset passive skill points.

The only thing I like more about D3 is the ecosystem with achievements and auction house. Plus the combat with loads more death animations

For me and many others Diablo was all about potions and as soon as you ran out you just opened a Portal back to town (one of the greatest game features I can think of in any game btw) got some more and went back..

Fact of the matter is that if this game was being made by a small developer and not Activison Blizzard(corrupt) then it would not have 99.99% of the hype it has, it's sad

I'm sure it will be a decent game etc...

Potions were a shit feature and I am glad to see the back of them in D3, it slows game play down too much.

Quite liked the portals though. I really liked the random map portals from Torchlight too, it would be nice to have them in Diablo.

Potions were only there to serve as anti-lag safety and portals are just a "way back to town", which will always exist.

I don't mind clones, but path of exile is a carbon copy with a few post-it stickers on it, which just makes me wonder how it got through. And about supporting an indie developer for copy/pasta work? Not in my to-support list.

And yes, potions were a shit feature. It was a crutch to limit gameplay and cater to the Far East.

People who have an opinion on this are entitled to it. But wailing about it like some 3 year old whos been told no isn't going to help the case.

Heres a newsflash. All those people complaining...they'll still buy it and play it. I guarantee that 90% of all "Oh god boycott its got no potions!!" will end up playing the game.
