Felt the same about it, I'm enjoying Diablo 3 for now but its just not Diablo in my eyes, nothing about it really stands out and says Diablo to me.. its just a Hack & Slash version of WoW.

Yah, several times I thought to myself this looks and plays like WoW vanilla in an isometric 3d view.

All the adhd achievement gallore that spamms all over the screen just reaks of call of duty executives and their mentality to me aswell. Even the fast pace is like some CoD wig busted in on a d3 meeting and called the shots on gameplay.

Barbarian wearing his shield and moving in simular ( I'd say the same mannor ) as a tuaren shaman made me /FACEPALM the other day.

Diablo 1 is playable over IPX on your local LAN - not even TCP/IP. And it's a better game too.

Torchlight 2 for the win, tbfh.

Diablo 2 you can play on direct TCP/IP mode without Battle net too - while its down does it mean WoW players cant logon either?

Dosen't feel like WoW at all to me (and yes I did play that shit to max level). The chat is similiar, but that was one of the good things about WoW.

I really hope Torchlight 2 sticks to the classic Hack & Slash model, if it does I can see it being more popular among older Diablo 1-2 players than Diablo 3 is.

Some rumors going about that Battle.nets been hacked; people logging in and finding all items missing and a mystery man added to their friends list. Hmmm....

I believe the server has been down for 5 hours now? On a Sunday?

That's epic levels of idiocy on a par with an EA.

Edit: And I hear ya m8 - the fact that it's gone a little backwards in terms of a player's freedom (I can't walk into a level higher than I'm supposed to 'cause all the gates are locked? WTF?)- makes it feel much more linear... :(

The whole PvE setup is linear as hell, again call of duty fingerprints all over it. All that is missing is grappling hooks and some mustashes and the circle is complete.

I'm sorry but I have had this marinade for a cupple of days now :)

It's funny really, get quite angry when servers go down, bit annoyed about no offline mode, bit annoyed about no own choice stat points, bit annoyed about small-ish zones, but as soon as I log back in I get quite excited. Blizzard has this affect on me, same happened with SC2, hated the imbalance that game had but as soon as I won another match, it made it all better.

Not justifying them for making these mistakes or leaving this shit out of a game so long in development, but I'm still happy with the game.

The Chinese managed to hack lan mode into Starcraft 2, I'm sure they are working on D3 :)

It wouldn't surprise me if they made it so you don't need an internet connection to play soon..

One of the major benefits of the internet required to play stance they took is that it's really really difficult for people to crack it within a few days.. that boosts sales for Blizzard...

It will be cracked within a few weeks though.. then everyone who is pissed off with the battle.net shit will just go pirate it which will force Blizzard in to enabling offline mode..

Don't think offline mode is easy. As I see it you would need a complete client side server emulator.

Reading the official forums is funny. The amount of blizzard hate, flames and even threats of lawsuits are amazing.
And in less than a week those same people will have forgotten the downtime...

Yeah, because "offline mode" has been difficult since computer games were invented. I imagine Andrew Braybrook having problems with Paradroid - and Blizzard's nightmare with Diablo 1.

Oh, it's *so* hard to not be permanently connected to the internet. Poor poor profiteering Blizzard.

He means, would be hard to "hack" offline mode into the game.

Enjoyed what I played before the servers went tits up again. Glad to see it wasn't just Mythic who were terrible at this.

Actually at this point it would be so hard, since it's built on online play.

It's built on online play for a reason, profiteering ofcourse being the #1 rager dream-reason. Truth being smoewhere closer to legitimate reasons.

Anyway, no point in explaining hw gamedev works since ragers rarely listen to a word of reason, just have to hope they all leave and play other games. Not because it'd make a nice and cmfy enviroment, but because it would leave more room for actually constructive feedback

You can see a bit of a ragers mindset by Keitanz disliking my post before, when all i said was that i wasn't bothered by it and by pointing out a fact of gamedev(things happen no matter what).

Ugh Blizard forums are the cesspit of the internet! Anyway once the server stability is sorted out is it worth buying D3? I loved D1 but was pretty bored by D2...

If you were bored of D2 then Diablo just isnt for you :p D2 was the pinnacle of Diablo. Diablo 3 is an alright game but it just doesnt feel like Diablo, it has so many flaws, missing content/features and the system itself just feels like a mish mash between WoW and a generic Hack & Slash game.

If I didn't see it myself I'd still be saying "D3 is going to be amazing!" sadly now I've completely U-turned on that notion and gone more towards - Diablo 3 was possibly the most over-hyped game of all time... its still alright tho, not the worse game out there but definately not one that will last as long as Diablo 2 did.

Depends what they do with it tbh, it can be as good as D2 as far as I see... though in only Act1 it seems alot more 'go here, do that' then D2. I miss getting lost for ages and going through Cave lvl1, Hole lvl1 and numerous other pointless dungeons that I can't seem to find on D3.

I'm finding the lag and the constant error 3007s pissing me off however.

Just completed Act3, it felt considerably shorter compared to the previous Acts (Whats more, with the servers being down i played less).

But don't know!

Still, the cutscene between Act3 and Act4 was immense, Blizzard always impresses me with their cinematics.

Whats more, really pissing me the fuck off that i can only have 10 auctions running at one time. What the fuck Blizzard. I've got about 20 rare items on a mule character, plus 10 which are currently in auction. Can't keep up with this shit.

Leaping into groups of mobs and tearing them up on barb will never get old!

The later acts are indeed much shorter than the first one.
