CS setting up games

I am setting up acounter strike game, I know how to set up the game , how does my friend find the address with out wading through all the games. How do I find the address so i can tell others and they can find it?

windows ME, tried using game spy not much help
in cs tried to add server by entering an isp but could not find it in all of the servers.
can i get a step by step on how i can have friends play on a game i am creating?

start | run | winipcfg.exe

get your IP from that. Go to CS, create a server. your mates connect to the IP address you got from winipcfg, and the port will be the standard 27015 (or whatever it is)


so they would connect <yourip>:27015

thanks for your help, i'll try that out, any reason why so many times i try to enter a cs game and either get "cannot connect" or takes pathetically too long and then never enters game?

Ahhh, this is the same problem I had. The server was running, but it was only allowing connections that were relative to the network card for the lan to connect. This was because sv_lan 1 was set on, it has to be set to sv_lan 0 I believe.
