Explain the facepalm @Embattle? Are you saying that they are lying?
"I don't like what you're posting but I can't explain why for fear of embarrassing myself (TORIES NOT BAD. TORIES GOOD) so I'll give you a facepalm. When somebody with some balls comes along later and responds with some words, I'll give them an agree to confirm that what they said is exactly what I was thinking of saying all along."

He had no stats to back that up. He couldnt say depression is about this many deaths and we have 50k deaths from covid so far and if it runs rampant up to 500k deaths.

This has just been released here, so no Costa holidays for a while yet.

"Further extension on border controls

Spain’s Official State Gazette (BOE) today published an order extending restrictions on non-essential travel for people coming into Spanish territory until June 15th.

This order comes into effect from May 16th at 00:00.

Besides the quarantine, non-essential travel to Spain will be heavily restricted. As a rule, Spanish authorities will only let in Spanish citizens, permanent residents of Spain, and regular residents of the Schengen area (30 countries that include the EU members, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Andorra) who are in transit to their place of residence.

Exceptions are also made for cross-border workers, healthcare professionals and caregivers on their way to work, diplomats and individuals who can prove an essential reason to travel, including for humanitarian reasons.

The order stipulates that authorities may also turn away EU citizens and their relatives for public health reasons if they are not “registered as residents of Spain, or headed directly to their place of residence in another member state, Schengen-associated state or Andorra.”

An exception is also made for “the spouse of a Spanish citizen, or partner in a similar relationship that is registered in a public registry, and for descendants and parents living with the citizen, as long as they are traveling with this citizen or on their way to reunite with him or her.”

Read more here, in the official BOE: https://www.boe.es/boe/dias/2020/05/15/pdfs/BOE-A-2020-5053.pdf "

A newsletter sent out to staff...specified that staff were to avoid "commenting on political issues, such as PPE".

Another trust put up posters in hospital staff areas which told healthcare workers not to "make public appeals for equipment, donations or volunteers"....

One doctor who had posted spoke Newsnight anonymously, for fear of reprisal from his hospital.

"They hauled me up in front of a panel of senior managers - it was very, very intimidating", he said.

"They kept on feeding me what felt like government type of lines, saying 'this hospital has never had PPE shortages' - which I know to be factually untrue. And that essentially I should stop causing a fuss.

"There have been colleagues who've died at my hospital. And there have been a handful more who've been in ICU (intensive care units).

"It's very, very concerning that we can't even say our colleagues have died, please don't let us be next."

You facepalmed that @Embattle??

Wow. What a douche you are.

I think he's sitting there in his office with a portrait of the Boris above his desk. Jerking himself off and doing a little jizz each time he facepalms.
Pathetic individual.

Almost like profit / loss is a PITA for train services because transport is more like a utility, no? ;)
Sorry but it can't be a utility at all really because bikes exist, amiright? ;)

You dont actually need to poll anyone.
Just put all the newspaper headlines and agendas into an algorithm and out will pop public opinion.

God sky news is shit isn't.

If England had to lockdown again that would be to the "satisfaction" of the devolved governments?

Only wankers would feel anything other than pity for the English in that case. I doubt gloating pride would be on the agenda of anyone but chavs. Maybe frustration and anger with idiot bojo, but satisfaction and smugness?

I hate lowbrow shite.

Anyway - Charlie Brooker's antiviral wipe was pretty good :)

I don't think they mean satisfaction like jumping up and down cheering but more that their own decision had been vindicated.
The "R" number was the focus of the plan laid out by the Boris. The "R" number had gone up so now apparently it's not so important. Jeez it's like they have no clue.

Coronavirus: Suddenly, the government isn't so sure the R rate is important
Their problem is they keep trying to dupe people whenever whatever they were saying goes wrong. Not going to meet your testing target? Change the rules to make the total absolutely meaningless just so you can hit a number (and 10 days later they still haven't got even close to actually hitting 100,000 *actual* tests a day). Not doing so well in international comparison now that you have the highest number of deaths in Europe? Stop proudly showing charts comparing your numbers with those from other countries. Is the R number creeping up again? Pretend it's not that important anyway.

‘They’re in a panic’: Unease grows in UK government over handling of Covid-19

It's not the tone of the article. You can have your decisions vindicated but take no pleasure in it.

They havent got a fucking clue how many people have it or have had it., the tests atm are very suspect indeed, even this 100% antibody test only works if you have the 'right' antibody levels.

All regional spikes are bollocks, its nonsense when you have a wide swathe of experts with vastly different conclusions and modelling data.
People coming in to hospital with symptoms and testing positive is surely the only reliable data for lockdown easing.
