The man heading an investigation into lockdown parties at Downing Street invited staff to a "Christmas party" in his office last year.

Top civil servant Simon Case is due to report shortly on claims Covid rules were broken at events for staff in the run up to last Christmas.

But the BBC has been told that Case's position as chairman of the inquiry is now under consideration.

The Cabinet Office has been asked to comment.

The mussus had Pfizer booster. No issues. I had Moderna booster this morning.... Sore arm, body ache.

We desparately need a find a way to convince ethnic minoroties to get the vaccine - for their own health, to protect the rest of the population and to remove that horrible factual argument.

100% of the black people I know have been fully vaccinated, obviously quite a small sample...relatively speaking.

Are you sure this isn't class based where a disproportionate amount of black people are piss-poor, based on the average amount of black people in the UK...something like 5-10%

Intelligent white people will be saying 'why do ethnic minorities have such a distrust of the Government and the 'establishment' that they chose not to take the vaccine?'

The only other route is suggesting that because they are an ethnic minority they are somehow inferior to white people intellectually, which for a number of reasons is a non-starter.

I think vaccine take up is a very interesting social study tbh.

That argument (in the face of the actual evidence in a very clear graph above) is akin to "my gran lived to 90 and smoked 50 a day".

The fact is, this will be stoking increased racism. In terms of learning, understanding and trying to come up wtih solutions for this problem then absolutely that work needs to be done. But that's going to take decades. Right now, racists can point at black people, black areas and turn to their kids and friends and say "stay the fuck away - they're a hotbed of covid - and it's their culture that makes them a danger to the 'indiginous' white population".

And their argument has merit. If you want to avoid covid then stay away from areas with lots of black people. There's a cultural issue that means they pose a risk.

Now, to reiterate (although I shouldn't have to) - I'm not supportive of these views in the obvious ways you two are jumping to. I'm responding to Raven's disingenuous "Eh?" comment after that stupid twatter video with Piers.

Actually, it's a really interesting point that I've not considered until right now. (Maybe it's since I've moved away from Nottingham I've not had to think about it.)

I've lived in ethnic-majority places for most of my life (if you get my drift). By choice, not lazy accident. But right now, during covid, wild horses couldn't drag me back to those places - because they are a hotbed of unvaccinated idiots (for whatever reason).

Right now - it pays to "avoid the blacks". And that's not racist - that's just a statement of fact.

You must have lived a very shielded childhood.

UK: Croydon, Brixton, East Ham. Just to name three. There are literal statistics the government provide based on area and ethnicity. It's not racist at all.

It's like saying West Sussex is a white area. It is. Am I racist for saying that?

"Black area" is probably a bit of a direct way of putting it but there are examples of this everywhere.

Birmingham, West Sussex, everything above Watford.

I lived 10 years in Bradford and about 18 in Nottingham. There *absolutely* are areas which are predominantly black, or pakistani, or indian. I know. I've lived there.
