Who has gone strangely quiet about it? Was it being discussed? These situations always result in power grabs by dodgy governments - the UK wanting their measures in place completely unnecessarily for 2 years, Hungary basically giving carte blanche to their far-right PM, the US scrapping or relaxing environmental protection laws...

That...a third of the deaths are in London.
Are you trying to defend something against the facts?

Its rather obvious isnt it, London is the hub of international travel...the worlds busiest airports.

Its population density x absolute population numbers you plumb. Pop quiz, how many of the postcodes in the UK with a pop/KM2 over 20,000 people are in London? Answer, 88% of them...

London is 13% of the UK and has more than a 1/3rd of the deaths.

Its a perfect storm of travel hub...the tube..pop density and a high number of immigrants who are more likely to have jobs that require them to travel to work and do so in close proximity.

You keep trying to squeeze immigrants in the mix even though its irrelevant. Because you're a racist.

Its isnt irrelevent, that message on immigrants is being pointed out by the left because its the truth.

White people in London are far more likely to drive or be able to isolate at home.
Immigrants largely do the jobs that involve getting stuck in.

But anyway you went straight for racist and that old chesnut is working too well is it.
You might want to try an actual thought.

Race and ethnicity matter, too. For example, in a survey conducted during the H1N1, or swine flu, pandemic, Spanish-speaking Hispanic respondents were far more likely than white or black respondents to say that their job could only be done at their workplace, or that they would have difficulty staying home from work for seven to 10 days. Black and Hispanic respondents were also more likely to say they would have difficulty avoiding public transportation.

University of Maryland professor Sandra Quinn, who led that study, says that she worries about elevated risk for low-income workers—who may live in more crowded conditions, struggle to take off work, or have more underlying untreated conditions that make them more susceptible to COVID-19.

So your policy is to try to worm out of discussions of immigration because you find them uncomfortable.

Unfortunately that is the new approach and the fact that most of the poverty and ill health is amongst immigrants then gets ignored.
Because its racist to talk about it.
When any identifiable group starts to gain on bad stats we do something about it, except for immigrants that clearly involves ignoring it.

I read this when it came out.
I think that citizens are starting to question as it is clear that their path is very different, although as stated earlier Denmark and Norway are looking to release their isolation measures and Sweden seems to be under their microscopes more than their own countries at the moment. I found myself in a heated debate with an employee about Swedens path on Monday as I became irritated that they were not even questioning the govermment - this high level of trust that the english written papers are talking about can NOT be underestimated. However the general view is "we hope we (Sweden) are right", "what happens when everyone comes out of isolation will it resurge more heavily in those countries".

Yesterday it became forbidden for OAP homes and apartments to be visted by anyone and the Ski slopes were closed (to prevent smaller communities being inundated with internal holiday makers). It is nearly impossible to get a home delivery in 7 days you need to plan well in advance for this and the same for booze (remember in Sweden this is government controlled so can not be brought from any old offy or supermarket).

Today it emerged that some selfish cunts had brought a year supply of their medications - you are allowed to get 3months at normal cost so these people must have paid the full amount. This has now been forbidden. You may only now get 3 months in advance at the normal cost.

Well if the death rate in Sweden tails off, then the rest of the world are gonna look pretty fucking stupid indeed.

Not really they HAVE taken steps to protect the old and vulnerable just like other countries. They haven't put the population on forced shutdown but recommended that people do not go out unless necessary. As I have repeatedly said the government have stated that when the time is right they will restrict us as other countries however they do not believe that this kind of restrition is doable over a long period of time so we live in a reduced fredom. Remember our population density is low even in Stockholm AND they are naturally socially distant far more so even than the UK.

In terms of Sweden they have consolidated all of the recommendations they ahve in place now - hopefully this will stop the VI stating that citizens in Sweden can carry on as normal. The press have also been asked to ensure that the news they publish has been fact checked as there are been a lot of instances (as there have been in the UK and other countries of bullshit / skitsnack). The most reputable newspaper in Sweden (DN) is currently at risk of losing their subscriber base as they have conflicting news on a daily basis.....

For those of you who can read swedish :

563 died in the UK yesterday.

Covid-19 is much more infectious than seasonal flu.
Well yes, theres no vaccine.
But thats not the argument here..and I think youll find the flu is very contagious indeed.

Taken from livescience

The new coronavirus causing COVID-19 has led to more than 454,000 illnesses and more than 20,550 deaths worldwide. For comparison, in the U.S. alone, the flu (also called influenza) has caused an estimated 38 million illnesses, 390,000 hospitalizations and 23,000 deaths this season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Covid-19 was just starting when the world went on lockdown. You think it wouldn't have been worse than flu if we were all still going to football and Little Mix concerts?

So the problem is that all the other countries bought up all the current stock by planning ahead and therefore Germany can do half a million a week and we can't do 10,000.

Well if it's just a big fuck-up then fine. No biggie.
No its that every country wants it at the same time. If germany manufactures it then they are gonna make sure they get what we need first.

what it has show is that globalised manufacturing doesnt work for equipment / resources that are needed from other countries when lockdown and national needs take precedence.

I am sure if we had a manufacturer we would have made sure we have all we need before sending abroad.

its why countries are seeing how bad its been to rely on china so much when they can just shut it all down and look after their own

But theres more natural immunity in the populace for flu. Even without the vaccine.

and you can only quote those numbers after the pandemic is over so you get totals over the year like you have for flu

Yes, but the diffetence is seasonal flu lets you know straight away and people with flu tend to self isolate anyway.
Thats the problem with Covid..its obvioualy spread mostly by people with no symptoms.

TBH I don't think it has really "started" in the UK or US yet. Not to mention the whole African continent or India to name just a couple.
Meanwhile here in Almeria (large area but not too heavily populated) we have 124 in hospital, of which 18 in ICU and a total of 17 dead. Shit but could be a lot worse without the shutdown.
