Driving is unnecessary additional risk.

It's not "don't do risky things" - it's "minimise risk". You don't minimise risk by doing risky things.

Personally I've a lot of sympathy with your Cannock idea. However, Cannock Chase is a MTB haven and they're all go-proed up the kazoo. I've seen video footage posted of people cramming into parking spaces and almost coming to blows during the 'rona because the only thing people want to do is get outside to places that, previously, they never seemed to take any interest in.

With Cannock Chase it depends where you go - it's a fooking massive place and there are a few quieter places you can go dogging for a walk.

I don't think people understand the difference between exercise and a scenic walk.

really sorry but a scenic walk is exercise ... if it is not within the general area when you live however it should be avoided

This exactly. Walking around the roads of the town you are in is just as much exercise as walking around a reservoir.

oh and yes those police were being pedantic. But those chicks had been to a coffee drive through first - essential anyone?

to walk around a hole with water in it. - essential?

the amount of people doing shit that isnt essential is amazing this time. And. Just means that the virus will spread more and we will be locked down longer.

its all short term gratification. Over long term benefit.

It is exercise. But its the same exercise as a run or walk of the same distance that hasnt taken you driving ten miles to get to. Which is what @Gwadien was getting at. So theres no reason to drive to pretty places to exercise.

This, nearly ever place is absolutely crawling with stupid fucking people doing stupid fucking things. Because they are clinically not very bright.

That's good knowledge for someone who hasn't left his local area in 9 months.

I am not sure what era you live in but round here we have a thing called news, it helps pass on information if you don't have it first hand.

Edit, I should add, dopes are herding round the golf course, no less than 1 mile from my house, which isn't even public land ffs. Round um up in paddy waggons. Stick them in the sea.

Just found out I'm living in the Borough with the highest incidence rate in the entire country. Great. Just. Great.

I live in the highest infection rate housing estates in one of the highest infection rate cities.

We're on 971 positive test results for every 100k people round here.

Just passed 1000 deaths for the county too.

I have been living in a city with no lockdown and minimal rules for nearly a year.... Not sure how I have not had it yet but I fillow the rules keep distant wear a mask when I feel uncomfortable without one. It is winter time here staying in the warm rather than -15 is pretty normal behaviour.... the differences are no going out for dinner and no cinema visits. I go out to take pictures and emergency shopping ie stuff the supermarket has not delivered due to no stock or substitute stock (happens very rarely). The only conclusion I can come to is that we both had it last March when we were really quite poorly and there was no testing available. We have not had antibody tests as they are incredibly unreliable and I would rather we faced the world believing we had not had it - so continuing to take precautions.

In other news, the country recorded another 1325 deaths...

Funny, we should be seeing the benefits of lock down by now, if people actually bothered to think. If only people weren't so stupid that they would likely die from putting their fingers in plug sockets or something if there wasn't a huge industry stopping them from self harm through being thick.

Love how you throw around accusations of being thick, and in the same breath, expect to see any effect of lockdowns 4 days after they start. Infection -> Death is typically at least 3 weeks, so it will be a while before science takes credit for the virus peaking naturally we see any effect in the numbers.

We should see the effect in cases from next weekend, possibly. They'd already peaked in Kent without it, so I'd expect London to follow suit shortly.

Lockdown 3 started well before xmas, the difference between that and lockdown 4 is the schools shutting (which they did, naturally 3-4 weeks ago anyway)

Except for a day when Boris decided that sending the kids in for 1 day was one of his better ideas, ofc.

No, it started on Tuesday. Considering me and the wife were in the pub on the 22nd and went non-essential shopping on the 27th, that seems a very weird lockdown to me.

Must admit I thoroughly enjoyed Xmas day. Me, the wife, me mum, sister and brother in law had a curry and got drunk. Lovely.

London and the se were tier 4 over 2 weeks ago and no sign of the numbers going down. hospital cases rising by a lot still.

We're at 999. Ireland was doing really well, and now its all gone to shit. Worryingly for me my local supermarket currently has 17 infections. Apparently we're now finding out that one of the big drivers of infection was half the local pubs in the area having secret lockins over Christmas. Good work.

Works fine. We just thought we'd support local businesses - which were open and legal to use, rather than outsourcing the "infection risk" to some poor minimum wage dude working in an Amazon distribution centre, and the poor person who'd have to leave it in our hedge.

And anyway, I think Jeff and the other online retailers have probably made enough cash so far this pandemic, wouldn't you agree?

180/100,000 here. About 50 higher than the last period.

Been consistently lower than the national average but then very very rural for the most part and when I'm out I see generally good observance.

When I went to Nottingham and Liverpool observance of the rules was a fucking joke for much larger numbers of people.

As a parish council we've got people whinging that we have shut the play area in the village. We can't police usage of it, so we have to shut it completely (as best as we can) because people are using as an excuse to have mass gatherings.

People are retarded. end of, I am sick and tired of stupid people affecting my life. Can't we just lock them away somewhere safe?

Whether or not bezos has made enough money doesnt come into it if its the safest way to shop and can stop people dying / catching the disease and bring us to freedom from lockdown quicker.

by going out and having interaction with anyone you are giving the virus opportunities. The few opportunities the faster we can go back to some semblance of normality.

im just so fecking pissed off with people who think their wants. ( not needs) are more important than everyone elses freedom

I have ordered online from lots of local businesses (and amazon) if you can't be arsed to keep up with the modern world then I am afraid I just cba to visit your little boutique candle shop or whatever, global pandemic or not.

The world moved on from high street shops years ago, this is just the much-needed bullet to the back of the old horses head to get it over and done with.

Edit, to go back to Amazon, a lot of the stuff sold is third party anyway (and getting bigger, intentionally, ebay will be gone in 5 years) these days. It's not the ideal solution for a small firm but it's better than your only customers being 10 browsing, buying online when they get home, customers a day.

There is a reason you can find anything on Amazon and it's not because Amazon stock it.

Perhaps we need some extreme winter weather for a few weeks to force people to stay the fuck in.

Dopes will still find a way to cough all over each other though.

it is plus 3 here at the moment .... the really bad weather doesn't normally arrive until February if at all (last year there were no extremes).
