Developed in 10 days, but not tested or approved. The beeb article is much more restrained, saying it could take a couple of weeks before they're even able to start producing them in large numbers.
It's much more Debbie Downer like everything on there. It's also littered with wording errors and style clashes like "eight to 10" making it look like it was cobbled together by a bot

I also heard that the government is buying another 8000 through the usual providers as well as the plan to get 10k Dyson ones.

New scheme to help the self-employed is useless for contractors. But they are dropping hints that we will be getting nobbled on taxes afterwards to help pay for it.

I think it's more likely that they originally chose not to participate but then realised how stupid it was making them look and backtracked.

It can't get any clearer: STAY AT HOME, DO NOT TRAVEL, EXERCISE LOCAL.
Only Key workers should be going to work - Everyone else stay at home!

It's been said a million times.

Except the official advice is that you can still go to work if you can't work from home, and driving to exercise isn't actually against the rules.

UK police use drones and roadblocks to enforce lockdown

However, the Guardian checked with the Cabinet Office, which is overseeing restrictions on movement, and a spokeswoman confirmed that the guidelines did not prohibit driving somewhere for exercise or dog walking.

A 30 minute drive in current traffic conditions seems a fairly low risk activity, and no more likely to trouble the NHS than walking upstairs or getting out of the shower.

Once there, it's easy to stay the required 2m away, get some fresh air and look after your mental health. Don't crash and don't lick any fence posts when you are there and all will be fine.

Theres loads of weird noises going on all night, thundering vibrating in the sky...cant see anything flying..no lights.
Comes and goes every twenty minutes, now theres a strange banging noise.
To cap it all, the spinning gas chimney cap has suddenly started making noises like a 70s horror track, its become a howling demon.
This is all very unsettling, going to hit the rum.

Getting a bit weird, cant tell if its coming from the army or RAF base.

Theres something afoot I tell ya

Owen Jones tweet.

Never thought I'd be relieved to be placed under house arrest along with millions of people under a police state by a right wing Tory government

OK but is it essential that you drive somewhere or can you just walk instead?
The guidance specifies only essential travel. I don't think driving into the mountains or for 30 mins is essential to get some exercise. Yes its great to go there but not essential.

You can look after your mental health without jumping in a car. If everyone did that it would be busier than rush hour.
So don't do it.

So theres somewhere else with more than a third of total deaths...hmmmm

That would nail the two immigration centres of the country as more than 2/3rds of the deaths.

You know who's next to blame dont you?
Italy is going to go full xenophobe for a start

I suspect most governments/public services are suffering bandwidth problems in how much they can realistically deal with under these conditions.

Look I know that it is tempting to bring the B word in to things but what does it add to the argument except to fuel those with an opposing view point no matter the stance - the brexit thing has happened it is not interesting anymore.

The points above however are still valid, in this case not to partake in the respirator intiative started in the EU, (regardless of whether the decision to use Dyson was motivated by UK leaving the EU by end of 2020 or not). All governments should be held accountable for the decisions they make on our behalf no matter the country or the political stance. As I pointed out earlier two different countries went down a different path on isolation a few weeks ago (vs the rest of europe) - one right of centre the other left of centre surely they would have taken different decisions if motivated by political stance?

I do not beleive that all decisions being made today by governments regarding CV19 are politically motivated (Trump however is absolutely politically motivated). In fact in some EU countries it is the specialised departments making the decisions (ie in Sweden re closing schools and enforced isolation).

The B word was brought into it by the UK government with their first excuse for not participating in the EU-wide effort.

All of this nonsense that has come out since about emails and miscommunication is just them trying to save face.

I think they used leaving europe not the B word - i don't read the times so do not have access to the whole story. (Guard / FT / NYT / DN and the local only)

Tbh, I'd rather not take advice from someone who can't even read the Government advice properly.
