I also don't give a shit about him or who he is. He can go or stay. I am looking at this from a parental point of view.
I'm sure the parents of that 13yo boy who died would've loved to look at it from "a parental point of view" when they weren't allowed to so much as say goodbye to him or go to his funeral. What would you have them do, storm the hospital? There are stories from all over about families that have made sacrifices because they were "following the guidance" and then it turns out that one of the architects of the guidance has basically ignored it because he thinks it doesn't apply to him. As has been said, even if it was a justified trip, the optics are dreadful.

Trust you to know my own mind better than I do, yeah, right?

I have the same view of anyone that's not following the medical advise and risks expanding and extending a pandemic: They're wholly selfish
Never implied I do, my point is that different people react to the virus in different ways. That is a fact. Some are fine, some suffer, some die, some slowly recover.

You never broke one of the rules whilst under lockdown?

Again tell me none of your family or friends broke one lockdown rule?

Again my point of view is from that as a parent having children. Not his position. If you think Cummings is the only parent who did this during lockdown then I pity you. Because it is Cummings everyone has gone on a witch hunt.

I'd have some sympathy for that if he wasn't using his kids as an excuse for his actions. Here's the thing about autism, consistency of environment is a major factor for anxiety amongst people on the spectrum, so why the fuck would you drive your son up to the grandparent's house, rather than say, asking one of the grandparents to come down to you? If you're going to put the oldies at risk anyway, better to have one healthy person travel than several unhealthy ones. Its still a breach, but its an understandable and justifiable one. Of course if you reason for going up north was actually for your Mum's birthday, you might not think of that...

NB. I'd also be fascinated to understand what the regular childcare arrangements are for a couple with an autistic child where one is a journalist (odd hours) and the other is working all hours in government. And I assume they are not short of a bob or two.

Different reactions but I still don't see any of the medical advice being "go for a drive"

No, I haven't broken the rules Deebs. Sorry, some of us think it's important to actually stick to them.

I don't know enough about autism to make an informed decision but what I do know is I will do anything to protect my children or grandchildren whilst not putting others at risk. I believe that driving in a car to the end of the earth without meeting anyone else and then moving into an isolated house is a risk worth taking.

It may have been his Mum's birthday or his Uncle's death. If that is the case for the trip then everything changes. However events happen on birthdays which can coincide. Let's see what he says and how he answers the questions.

Its not just now that he bent the rules. Its the attitude of him having bent the rules and its harmed the ability for government to make the public follow the rules.

in power you have to be whiter than white on these things.

i am sure the position he is in they could have found child care if needed. And his kid should be in the school for key people any way.

but driving that distance put him and his family at greater risk of an accident or breaking down which would have required others to help them and he knew his wife was covid positive. Thats not acceptable. You have ill from the disease you stay put. No questions.

he will go soon

I get it but putting my child into unknown childcare or my family. I know which I would choose.

Dave is the same as Cummings under the Law. Apart from the Queen.
Yup but he has to be able to be trusted. And he has broken trust. So yes fine him under the law. But his post is now untenable..

Which is fine. But he has to understand there are repercussions which for him in his position are more than just the fine from the police. But bringing sage and the policy makers into disrepute so should go from that perspective

In good news, many of which are not interested in the death count across the UK was 77 compared to yesterday.

So we are going down, I also believe the rate of infection is down.

IT'S NOT ABOUT THE LAW! Its about the optics. You can't ask (not tell, ask) the general public to exercise common sense, and then completely fail to show common sense yourself, because it means one of two things, you're either thick as mince, or you don't think the rules really matter, and I think we know the architect of Brexit is far from stupid.

Again many points are valid on both sides, but it doesn't change the ultimate outcome that the man who normally stays well hidden has managed to force himself into the spot light through a action the majority will consider to be wrong.

So if he resigns will the MSM move onto happier news or continue to look for shit to broadcast?

I am not thick as mince nor do I not think the rules matter to me (unless my family are in danger which I believe you would violate to save your own kids)

Good although it won't stay down unless bell ends keep to social distancing and learn that manners aren't just for a virus outbreak.

I hate msm. Just call it the media. All media is mainstream that anyone sees. Msm is just a catch phrase for people to hate behind. For the fake news criers when they disagree and think there is a conspiracy.

to the point. Of course they will go on investigating anything they think will sell papers or fill air time.

but from the last two who broke the rules and got thrown under the bus. I dont see why cummings would be different except he is boris bum chum.

Ok the rabid media who need to publish doom and gloom to make money. Show positive news. You can spare 5 seconds out of each 24hrs to show good news and then get back to negativity and gloom for the rest of the day. Let us push our mental health into the drain even if there are good things happening out there.

Yeah but you are also not in a position where you are directing 60+ million people and need to set and example to keep the R below 1.
Yet to be confirmed if his day out a few days after getting the durham was true yet. If so he really is a twat.

Do you need me to teach you how to wipe your arse after a shit?

Fucking hell, if this Union needs that level of guidance I hope it fucking sinks into the sea, only after I have built my Ark.

But we should both receive the same level of punishment for breaking the same rule right?

If you are the one that set the rules then you should be a beacon of those rules and therefore resign due to that failure to comply.

Imagine what it would have been like if we all did as he did and just abondoned the rules.

If you are in government (or whatever the fuck Cummings is) you have to act like you believe the rules matter, or why the fuck will anyone else?

Doctors now threatening to resign if Dominic Cummings isn't sacked - we need Doctors more than we need that arrogant cunt.

Again the ironic thing about part of his argument is it had totally the opposite effect since he now has more media around him than if he had just stayed put, this is also how I felt about some of the reasons given before were weak.

Doctors now threatening to resign if Dominic Cummings isn't sacked - we need Doctors more than we need that arrogant cunt.

To be honest that is little more than histrionics.
