Agree with Bodhi, if I want to just unwind I play FIFA or something on the xbox, if I want to get more involved in a game (as I have more time of whatever) then ill fire the pc up.

and wireless keyboard and mouse and sat on the sofa is just wrong, when im in that mood I prefer a controller.

the experience of using a PC and mouse on a sofa is fucking awful.
Disagree completely. It was different at first, but now I find little difference between that and sitting a desk - apart from the fucking hewge display.

I won't sit at a desk to play PC games any more. I'm just used to it and it doesn't impede me. Unlike using a controller in FPS's - which is the *only* thing I really give a shit about as I still use my controller for PES / fighty / drivey games...

...ofc with much better framerates and graphics :)

I actually agree with that. A mate does it, I think you need a hard surface really.

I am not one for sitting on the sofa though even when I was a kid I used to have my TV and consoles on a desk with a chair for gaming. I can't stand gaming from 12 feet away. I have my ps3 on my desk now and use a monitor, I will most probably do the same when I get my ps4, which will be around the time it drops to a sensible price and they release some games for it.

I don't really watch all that many films on the TV either. If I was single I doubt I would have a TV in the house.

Which is exactly why I think it's fucking awful - it's no different to sitting at a desk. After doing that for 8 hours in the day I fail to see why it is a good idea to do exactly the same fucking thing come leisure time.

?? If you're playing CoD sat on your sofa why would you choose worse graphics and frame rate? If you *must* you can still use a controller.

At the end of the day on a console you're still sat in front of a PC - just a shit one. And you're still looking at a monitor - just a 50" one.

It's not as if you're looking at spreadsheets - you see the game - unless you spend your leisure time looking at your actual PS4 box whilst masturbating? It is a Sony product after all ;)

I have a pretty varied day so it might be different for me, probably 50/50 desk work and "other". My home desk and chair are a fuck ton more comfortable than my work desk and chair too!

Because that is the beauty of choice. Believe it or not some of us don't actually give much of a shit about not having the nth degree of graphics, or running a game at 5 million fps, or masturbating over 3dmark scores you spent an arm and a leg to achieve. Come gaming time I press the PS button, wait all of 5 seconds for the machine to spring into life, and start playing. I stopped giving a shit about anything much else a long time ago, and I'm finding gaming even more enjoyable as a result.

I mean you'd almost think we were looking for different things out of games! And for what I am looking for, PC's are an enormous bag of shit. You forget I've been on both sides of the fence, and I'm having a shedload more fun now than I ever did hunched over a PC - and that, at the end of the day, is what gaming is about. It's not a penis measuring competition, or an exercise in fapping yourself senseless over how many frames per second you're getting - it's about fun. And I'm sorry, but for me, consoles are just more fun, and have more games that I want to play.

I'm not sure what about that is difficult to work out?

Not just that though but games in general, you know if you buy a PC game then chances are you will be able to play it again in 10,15,20 years. It sometimes takes a little fiddling but it will work! If it doesn't then there will be a community fix somewhere. Case in point, I have just started my Nth play through of FF7 a game that came out 18 years ago, still runs quite happily. Though I think it has been optimised for steam, I imagine if I had the PC disks it would install and run just fine.

For the most part this is true, most of my old PC games will run on my Windows 7 machine. Though I am a bit gutted that my old Command and Conquer disks refuse to work.

I have a Xbox 360 that just sits gathering dust while I play PC games, though sometimes I do use the Xbox controller for some games instead of the keyboard + mouse.

I've not got a problem with it. The point I was making was that if you were going to play CoD on a console or a PC on your telly using a controller and you had both plugged in then you'd simply use the PC - as it's as easy to use as a console and the you'd have a better gaming experience.

I have a PC under the TV too.
So, for some games use your controller with that and get a better experience.

Use your PS4 for your exclusives or games you don't have on the PC?

I don't see why you have a problem with this at all? It's not like I'm saying "sony is shit" - I'm just saying use the best device for the job...

Then again if you've been a console player for a good while, you'll probably have all the consoles to play old games with. Cost of a PC(to any playable degree) for 15 years and all gen consoles is pretty much the same as well. Not that you'd want to go further then 10 years with games, best left in the rosetinted section for the majority of titles :p

You seem to be arguing this from some sort of technical angle, when I've said (repeatedly) I couldn't give a shit about one being slightly technically better than the other, I care about which I enjoy more. Which is playing on a console.

And I'm more than happy to use the PS4 for games I don't have on the PC. As the last PC game I bought was Football Manager 2011, I can tell you that that is most of them. Only PC game I still have installed is Doom (yes, the original one) for when I'm working away, but half the time I just get the Vita out and play on that instead.

In the face of reasonableness your your fanboi-ism rears it's head a little bit.

Like with @Raven - I'd much rather play at a higher resolution at 80fps - because I'd enjoy that gaming experience much more.

But if you enjoy it "because console" - then fair enough.

Woah! A whole 80 fps! God I'm really slumming it with 60 at 1080p on the PlayStation. However will I live with myself? Never mind the fact that I'm already maxing out the resolution my TV can do, but that's ok, because a PC can go higher!

(Not that my TV can display it but that's not the point. My e-penis will be larger!).

You are indeed. The vast majority don't run anywhere near that and the ones that do are uglified.

Like I said, if you've both under the telly anyway, why not play on the better one? You could always write "Sony" on a post-it and put it on the front of your PC if you really need to.

Seems to be plenty there that runs at 1080p and 60 fps, hell, Polyphony got Gran Turismo 6 to run at 60 fps on the previous generation - can a 10 year old PC do that? I suspect not.

I'll stick to playing on the better one thanks - which is the machine designed to play games - not the piece of office equipment with a graphics card in it.

Looked at that list before you posted it. Battlefield 4 and hardline, both running ugly at 900p and certainly not a steady 60 - dropping to half of that, whilst not drawing all the buildings...

Enjoy your ugly juddery FPS's with a controller, knock yourself out. Or your plants versus zombies at 60fps :)

If i went by "top performance for my buck!", i'd have to buy an xbone for the new fallout because it would probably run things better then anything i could afford PC wise.

The performance thing is only an argument if you can afford it on the PC and if anyone claims you can get better performance/graphics from a 300€ PC then an Xbone then i call bull :p

That's a serious reply cal ;)

Well you're both wrong then. :)
I get you're probably just being a bellend, but is it so hard to grasp the notion that some people simply don't give a fuck about a few extra pixels or frames per second?

Aside from that, consoles are just easier especially when it comes to playing with mates who are all on exactly the same platform.

That isn't the argument :) Just because some people don't care about performance doesn't mean a PC isn't the superior platform.

How? You can't seriously suggest you can get a gameworthy PC that trumps a console in performance and graphics for 300€?

Something like this is probably close to console performance. I am sure you can do better if you don't need to buy the case, PSU, HD etc

Asus R7 240 4GB DDR3 VGA DVI HDMI PCI-E Graphics Card 645226 2 in stock £68.03 £68.03
AMD A8-7600 3.1GHz Socket FM2+ 4MB L2 Cache Retail Boxed Processor 657970 20 in stock £63.47 £63.47
Crucial Sport BLS8G3D169DS3CEU 8GB, Ballistix 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3-12800 memory module 509360 1 in stock £41.27 £41.27
WD 1TB Blue Desktop Drive 3.5" SATA-III 7200RPM 64MB 393482 > 25 in stock £42.23 £42.23
Cooler Master CM Force 500 USB 3.0 ATX Case + Elite 500W PSU 510349 149 in stock £49.98 £49.98
MSI A78M-E45 V2 Socket FM2+ VGA DVI-D HDMI 7.1-Channel HD Audio Micro-ATX Motherboard 712919 16 in stock £42.46 £42.46

That's just picking components at random in less than 5 minutes. £307.44

Its capable of more. But superior depends on what the individual is looking for.

Well that's my argument either way. more FPS and more graphical fidelity clearly makes the gaming experience superior and you can do it on your TV with a pad if you wish.
