Backwards compatibility! Just because a game is old doesn't make it bad. If I can play PS1 and PS2 games on my PC then I am pretty sure they could create an official emu for the PS4. (I know they have that streaming thing for PS4 coming soon™ but its taking them far too long to get it sorted)

Not just that though but games in general, you know if you buy a PC game then chances are you will be able to play it again in 10,15,20 years. It sometimes takes a little fiddling but it will work! If it doesn't then there will be a community fix somewhere. Case in point, I have just started my Nth play through of FF7 a game that came out 18 years ago, still runs quite happily. Though I think it has been optimised for steam, I imagine if I had the PC disks it would install and run just fine.

Actually if you grab a 20 year old game on the PC now, chances are it won't work.

"Little fiddling" doesn't cut it as an argument. FF7 works just because it's a modern port, not an old PC game. Try running something like full throttle from disc.

Or how about even finding a 3.5" drive for the PC to really "retro" it up.

Most dos games of note are available for legal digital download...

You can disagree all you like, that doesn't mean it is not correct :)

Yup. When you're reaching for 3.5" disks as an argument against PC's (regardless of the fact that they won't work with consoles) then you're *really* reaching for shit.

Plus you'd still be nailed-on wrong - took me literally two seconds to find an external 3.5" USB floppy drive for PC. :)

And? Consoles are bringing digital backwards in as well, think the PS already has some. 0 difference.

Digital download is not PC only and certainly a FF7 remake for the PC that comes out for this generation doesn't work as a selling point.

Like said, if you can pop a full throttle or I76 into your pc and play straight away, then it's backwards compatible. Otherwise you need "stuff" or games that are made to work on current gen.

Oh and as an added caveat, just because you can mod your PC to run dos games, doesn't mean the general PC public can. Since you're judging by the general console public, it's fair to judge by general PC as well, not by "nerd" standards.

If it works with "stuff", then it's still backwards compatible...

Stuff being compatibility mode in Windows, which 99 times out of 100 is all you need. If you had to go out and buy a piece of software to run old games you'd have a point but everything you need is right there in your Windows installation (or freely available fixes .

Jesus, for someone who claims to both play games and work in the industry you are really clueless :)

I can't even be arsed to argue, you are just wrong.

As a little challenge. Find me where you can play FF12 (a game that is around 6-7 years old) on playstation, without dragging a wheezing PS2 out of the bin. Go

Then find me a PC game from the same age that doesn't work on a new PC.

Fact of the matter is, you're a PC nerd(or rather an elitist) trying to claim all PC users are like you(which they aren't), while trying to fit all console users into a mold of beer drinking fratboys(again, aren't) when the truth is that PC and console users are the same(most often literally the same person) and besides a minor one or two differences PC and consoles are both turning into the same system.

You might think i'm clueless because you're in denial of losing your individuality, but i look at how gaming as a whole is, not just my own backyard.

Yeah, it kind of does.

Your work around not only needs a PC but also has fuck all to do with PS4 (or Xbox)

Nice grasping though 6/10

Oh phew, so you're acknowledging that everything you've said since page 1 is horseshit then? Thank fuck for that, I thought you were serious!

Not necessarily, but you should be smart enough to figure out the serious answers ;)

Lol. Toht considers his posts so special that he thinks other people should have to take the time to decipher when he's talking shit and when he isn't*.

I've always been a PC guy myself. Started with Cobra PC and NES console back in my youth, it was my last console, even though i enjoyed it a lot as a youngster.

The freedom you get on the PC is unparalleled, I think this is the point that differentiates the two. On consoles you pretty much play games, or browse the internet / watch movies. That's it.

You can't fire up PS and edit that image to enlarge @Deebs 's nose or add stilleto heels to @Jupitus , You can't Steam, you can't setup your computing environment the way you like it, you can't torrent, etc, etc, etc.

I guess you either like PCs and that freedom, or you just want to casually play a game. Nothing wrong with either, but PC is master race :D

You can do loads more with a PC. That's why I have a PC as well - however after a long day doing all that other stuff on a PC, I'd rather stick pins in my eyeballs and engage Job in a conversation about immigration than sit in front of the PC again. This is where a sofa, a big fuck off TV and the PS4 come in.

Big sofa, big fuck off TV, PC plugged in, wireless keyboard and mouse and better games, or a controller and not-quite-as-good-games, but still at better framerates with better graphics.
Fixed that for you :)

And where the difference in players/games comes in. I can't immerse myself in a gameworld(not saying you can't) while on a couch, too relaxed so to speak :p That's why i prefer games such as fallout with a PC, but when it comes to driving/fighting games then consoles are second to none.

Not to mention the tip is in the names really, gaming console versus a personal computer.

I have a PC under the TV too. I've used it twice in the last 3 months (other than as a media server), as the experience of using a PC and mouse on a sofa is fucking awful.
