I remember when people tried saying Fifth Gear would be the end of Top Gear because they would do serious reviews. Last time i watched it they were trying and failing at Top Gear pranks. If they did not need to keep Top Gear running the BBC would be better off renaming the show to give it a better chance. There is a reason all the other Top Gears around the world are crap and it is because Clarkson, Hammond and May work brilliantly. Trying to replace them is silly but will they have to live up to TV deals already in place I think we will get Top Gear in name only till the contracts are finished.

I find Harris' YouTube channel already head and shoulders above anything Clarkson has ever done - if he brings elements of that to Top Gear 2, then it could be very good indeed. The videos are exquisitely shot, his engagement and enthusiasm are tip top.

You just cannot compare him to clarkson, not in the same league on any level, his writing, celebrity position, outrageous Trump style oubursts give him a commanding attachment to armchair opiniates all over the country, if he says a car is shit..then it's shit.

I've watched a few Harris videos, they're boring. I mean, really, really boring, like the numerous US car reviewers on YouTube who cater for car enthusiasts and nobody else.

For the most part, Top Gear viewers aren't interested in BHP, gearchanges, tungsten carbide pedals, etc. They're interested in three stupid blokes dicking around and making arses of themselves.

I think they should have gone with Karl Pilkington. A car review by Karl would be hilarious.

I think there's a contingent that are wanting BBC top gear to fail because they "fucked" Clarkson, or whatever, and a contingent that want amazon top gear to fail because "fuck" Clarkson.
