I hate being misquoted...I never said people who watch it are retards.

I definitely trust your opinion now!

You going to come out and make like James Cameron has some talent now? That'll be a good one to pull off. Besides Aliens the man's never done owt worth owt.

As for Bond, don't get me started. Same film 20 times. Don't get me wrong, I love Bond (in order >Dalton>Moore>Connery>Lazenby>Brosnan - I know I shall get flamed for this!), but has the acting, plot, dialogue and direction of any Bond film been as good as the average epsiode of Buffy? Certainly not.

I don't really understand what the argument is about to be honest. It's not like we're talking about some kind of immutable scientific case study or something, where one person is clearly scientifically wrong and the other is trying to convince him/her otherwise.

A person's opinion of Buffy is just that - an opinion. Me saying "Alias" is shit doesn't make it so, just as dys saying Buffy is shit doesn't suddenly make me reevaluate my opinion of the show.

I don't even think time/experience is a strong factor in this. I could watch one show of Xena, decide its shit and never watch it again, and whenever asked would say "it's shit". Does that make my opinion invalid or uneducated? No, it just makes it different.

I'm sorry but you've stated that as though its a fact...

its only your opinion...and I disagree with you. At least the villains in Bond have some intelligence. The "foes" in buffy are as bright as 2 year olds.

/edit: Damn I wasnt going to argue in here anymore!

Neither am I wanting to argue further. I just want us all to hug and grow as people.

Dysfunction, your comments riled me up. As I've said, I get extremely defensive on this subject and I apologise. I spent 5 years with your opinion, and when I realised i was wrong it floored me - I didn't like admitting I was wrong, but boy was I wrong. Since then, this show has become a major part of my life and speaks to me in powerful ways - which isn't unique to me but most of the fans of the show.

I just assume others who are vehemently opposed to it can be turned just like I was, so it's frustrating that you have such a closed mind when I could almost guarantee you'd love it given the chance. That is what us geeks do, spread the word to like-minded ppl about things we love. But your opinion is valid, you've made your choice, you're going to miss out on something many people have enjoyed, and there's nowt I can do about it.

Perhaps you are right.

But you've said previously I would have to sit through 1 1/2 seasons and only then will I start to enjoy it.

I'm afraid I dont have that patience...

Not really - the first 1 and a half seasons are good. Good as your average US TV - X-Files, whatever. But from mid-season 2 until the end is where it outclassed every other show on TV. It's just in comparison, the earlier, merely "good" epsiodes look a bit lame in comparison to what came after.

Just get hold of an episode called "The Body" if you get a chance. It's nothing like the show usually is, but it does show off the show's stronger points very well. You shouldn't need to know much of the backstory it's something we should all be able to relate to.

Watch alone, in the dark, and if you get through it without breaking down you're a stronger / more heartless (delete as applicable) man than I.

Actually, you're probably refering to the run of the mill vampires who are just as thick as the average american. The "big bad's" as they're known on the show are often quite a lot more bright.

The mayor was fantastic.

The Mayor was my favourite villain of all time. He was evil incarnate but the nicest, most all-american guy in the world.

I love that bit where he's laying out his ascension: "Form a perimeter around the kids. Kill, but don't feed, if I catch you snacking it's a trip to the woodshed for you boys. When the sun goes out it's imperitive that I have a steady chain of food to maintain the change.

Oh...and let's watch the swearing?"

Absolute genius.

BUMPED AS THE LAST EPISODE HAS BEEN SHOWN ON SKY1 TONIGHT

Comment below, but don't look if you've STILL not seen it :D

Saw it a while ago and it's taken this long to emotionally recover so I shall comment now...

Nowhere near as good as it should / could have been. But it was a strong ep and a good, if maybe not totally worthy, end to the series. Possibly the worst Joss Whedon ep ever...though that's hardly a criticism.

So...From Beneath You It Devours. Never would have guessed they meant Spike.

Angel was written way out of character, just like Willow was when she went to LA in Orpheus and suddenly became momentarily confident with magic again.

Very confused *still* about what Willow's spell did. "Every girl in the world who could be a slayer, will be a slayer." Erm, well, apart from a couple they could have missed, every girl in the world who could be a Slayer was at the Summers house already. They were the potentials...that was the whole point of the season...so why was Faith saying "You're just a normal girl now"? No she's not, she's one of maybe a couple of dozen superpowered slayers! Elsewhere on the web people think it means "millions" of slayers. WTF???!?!

Anya's dying was a shock, though expected. Hated the way that Turok-hans (one of which gave Buffy the worst beating of her entire life) suddenly became pussies. Anya killed 2 by...well...slashing them with a sword in the side? What? They can't die like that.

About what "Botox's" eye said...that was never explained...how come The First could now take out the Slayer line?

And Joyce's warning to Dawn? "She won't choose you". I don't think they were originally planning it to be something so lame as sending her away. It's not that big a deal that Joyce would have to warn her..."Oooh, beware, dawn, Buffy might send you somewhere safe should the apocalypse come."

I'm so glad Andrew survived, he's been the best thing on the show in the last year and he needs to be in Angel next year (as a comic shop owner / demon expert dude). He's the only one who has any real scope for Wesley-style development.

So not all I could have wished for from the conclusion to the greatest TV journey I've ever taken but, could it have ever lived up to it? Yes, I think it could, so it's a bit of a shame. If Angel hadn't been renewed I don't think I'd be coping right now! :)

Must admit, I didn't cry :p

Got a bit mushy in some episodes before and this episode didn't have the emotional impact of some of the others.

Thank god I've still got Angel though :)

The problem I've had with Buffy the past couple of years, is that even though the character has grown up and so has the orginal fan base, the show is still going out in the same time slot with the same "certification".

It really could of done moving to a later time slot and moving in a more adult and violent environment. Bit like Angel really.

Yep, me too...no tears here...though previously it has made me break down on more than one occasion - Becoming Part 2, Passion, The Body...couple more times...but no tears this time.

I mean, Raaarghhh, I'm a man! Sarah Michelle Gellar's tits! Sex! Football! etc.

The gift is the only one that got me tbh.

I had another point to make but, Sky's showing clips from previous seasons and now I'm getting sad :(

Oh yeah just remembered, one thing I did like was that the ending felt like episode 1 season 1! Last episode ever? Hell no! This was like the end of a a long story arc and Buffy's life and her story is just about to begin.

Now I just need SMG's film career to end and her to get desperate and come back and make a new series as a battle scarred veteran of a hundred wars...

... about 10 years from now :D

Highly likely considering she's signed up for at least another 2 shitty scooby doo films. Considering she's probably the best actress of her generation (and actually up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Emmy this year!) she seems to lose all her ability when she does a film.

Seriously, has she ever been anything other than shite in a film role? Nope.

Q) Did they use the "sad" Buffy music during the last episode?

You know, the one they from "The Gift" when she sacrifices herself. That damn tune always brings a lump to my throat. I'm such a sucker for a good score, sometimes I can't make it through the Pearl & Dean adverts at the cinema without crying like Gazza :p

J

Nah there wasn't any of that music in it, it had a new score written for it which was kind of more uplifting, empowering thing.

It's that Sarah McLachlan song, "Full Of Grace" that gets me.

I still welled up even in the quick scene from The Body (Buffys mum dies) was played, that episode was really sad :(

I just wish SMG would put a little weight on again... She looks so emaciated these days... not a patch on how great she looked in S1/2/3 (started to go downhill from there) not to mention the larger tits that went with the flesh... she seems to have taken it to a new extreme lately...

Maybe if she just gained half-stone / stone.. she'd get me back to lusting in the same way I did in the "I know what you did last summer / Early Buffy series / Cruel Intentions"

Dunno how you couldn't get teary-eyed watching Spike's sacrifice - I know I did. Or rather, a overly-sensitive friend of mine did. Yeah, that's right.

I know its a small point, but I think they should've closed the show with that piano score that was playing at the end - instead of the regular Buffy music. You heard one note of it as Joss' name came up, but then it went into the normal score. Would've been fitting imo.

Anyas death was spot on - quick, bruta and fitted the circumstancesl.. no projected death speech or anything like that. Xanders reaction (given at one point he was supposed to be marrying her) was a bit subdued.

Definitely agree on Andrew surviving and potentially becoming another Wesley in terms of potential. The "I've got swimmers ear" comment was brilliant. I actually enjoyed the Troika episodes a lot - all three characters/actors really worked well together.

Buffys smile at the end was strange. I appreciate Joss wanted to finish on a happy ending, but it seemed she had just forgotten about Spike, etc.

It was a shame that the WB felt the need to announce the coup of James Marsters going to Angel so soon after the final EP. It had been confirmed before the episode had even aired I believe - kinda took some of the thunder away from the final EP imo.
